  1. Caught up with the Class 68 powered short set today. Also tried to get the 37's, but they spend the afternoon sat in the yard.

      Did both short sets

from Norwich to Lowerstoft and a 37 Short set to Gt Yarmouth. I was very surprised with the Class 68 in the way accelerate and sounded.

Especially when only one is powering the train at a time. I thought there a little bit of 20 and 47 to the exhaust note.

Wasn't you hanging out the window with a camera as it left Yarmouth was it Terry?

  2. I really enjoyed seeing Emsworth 'in the flesh' at Southwold.
  3. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Saltdean at Southwold. Such a fantastic piece of pre-grouping modelling. Lovely locos too!
  4. With regard to the Suffolk incident, the level crossing in question is on Victoria Road in Lowestoft. At this point, the road is single lane. It does not become a two lane junction until after the level crossing. The video appeared on Facebook before appearing in the news. Earlier on the footage, the driver is seen overtaking another car (the one with the dash cam) in a 30mph residential road.
  5. The 365 looks fantastic, Terry. I may well try and pop along to Bury, just to see the layout!
  6. 37 425 is the one you ought to catch. It sounds absolutely superb. Incidentally, the line speed has a maximum of 60.
  7. I know it's a bit late now, but I've only just seen your thread. I think the issue is caused by the use of a curved right-handed point and a Y because both lines curve outwards from the crossing V. Using a pair of curved points would reduce or eliminate the problem.
  8. Anyone else tried Zwift?

Oh yes, all the time, great stuff, fantastic taste and really brings out the texture of the cannelloni.

(What is it and what does it do?)

  9. I recall seeing this at the Southwold exhibition and enjoying it very much. It's super to see a modern era layout on the circuit.
  10. I wonder whether it is now worth a sub-forum for Revolution Trains, rather than having to look in the Rapido or Dapol areas.
  11. I've started building my first wagon kit!

      In N. A pair of PNA's.

  12. I've gradually gone off F1. My interest has moved to the WEC and other endurance series.
  13. My thinking wad that you could construct the track on the card panels and mount the whole ensemble onto cork. It should give a little more strength to the track when constructing. I've found the sleepers to be a little brittle on my trial example.
  14. Ian, I suppose you could mount it onto a cork bed?
  15. I have a strong urge to buy a Fleischmann BR 55 (AKA Prussian G8.1)

      Don't fight it...resistance is futile.

  16. I better check my bank statement, as I've placed an order for some of the TEA's, but I don't recall any money going out?
  17. Visited Tim Horn to collect a pair of baseboards. A marvellous undertaking and a superb chap!

Yes, Pete. I'll be starting a thread in the next couple of months - I've got some track to build first!

  18. I am very impressed with your wiring, Pete. Especially the way you have wired in the D-sub connectors. I usually solder directly, but wonder whether your solution is more reliable in the long run? I will give it a go when I construct Reedham. A cracking layout too! Is it long enough to hold a 4-car NS Koploper or double deck VIRM unit?
  19. I particularly like the presentation of the layout. Many have a black background, which, as Iain Rice says, it too much of a contrast. What shade did you use?
  20. I would just like to second Grahame's request. The Journal is a brilliant publication, but it's down the the membership to have a go at producing articles for it in the first instance. If anyone is worried about writing an article, give it a go!
  21. Apologies. When I read your post, I inferred that you hadn't realised they were one and the same.
  22. British Finescale make finetrax.
  23. This is the mk2 version of a B8 point straight out of the box. This is what is says on the website: You can see the pre-formed sleeper base, cast frog, various lengths of rail and the spurs holding the chairs P1000780 on Flickr The sleeper base now features some pre-moulded chairs. The rest of the chair positions are marked with holes in to which the chairs are located. P1000782 on Flickr These are the chairs. They are incredibly small! P1000783 on Flickr
