      Does if you're squirt boating.

  3. I'm wondering whether the chassis block has similar dimensions to the old 20. I have a couple of Parkwood BTH type 1's in need of a chassis. Is anyone able to provide measurements of the width, length and height please?
  4. I think this has to be the longest continuous rumble of thunder I've ever heard - 6 minutes and still going!

Went on a 2-hour hack. Got back just in time to escape the rain :-)

  5. I think most people have been through a similar thing to you at some point. I found myself getting frustrated. I then found rmweb and became inspired by the 'less is more' approach used by many. Although you may wish to cram as much in as you can, don't. I've gained much more enjoyment from a simpler but more realistic layout than I ever did from a layout full of track.
  6. Very slow at the moment. Hoped to make significant progress during summer hols, but this hasn't been the case so far!
  7. has found a missing rapido coupler spring in his coffee.

      there is an echo somewhere.

  8. Hi John, I've been away from RMWeb for a while and I am impressed by the progress that has been made on the layout. I'm really looking forward to seeing the layout finished!
  9. I've been 25 for 2 1/2 weeks. 2 weeks have been spent with a chest infection, and the rest with a very painful wisdom tooth. Are these signs of old age?

Wait 'til you get a bit nearer to 65, then you'll have something to complain about!

40 years I've been on this paltry planet, and what have I got to show for it? Nothing. A practising certificate and a dodgy hairdo.

no, just bad luck. mid-20s is when my wisdom teeth were a real pain, glad i had all of them taken out!

  10. Hi David. You're making brilliant progress with your layout. What printer did you buy? I'm thinking of replacing mine as it's getting a bit ancient.
  11. It would need be shortened a fair bit. That place would be about 25' in N-gauge if modelled to scale!
  12. I remember Tango releasing a set of advertising with 'interesting' slogans on. They received many complaints, but nobody seemed to comment on the 'hidden' word. I have provided to an image, as some may find the hidden word offensive. http://static1.ukwir...mages/11645.jpg
  13. Hi David. I share your frustrations with N gauge pointwork and ballasting. I used point motors with frog polarity control, and these control the power on the points/ point blades. I found this a much better solution than relying on contact made by the point blades. A similar setup can be created using a switch mounted to the bottom on the point motor, and wired suitably for polarity control.
  14. Ian, I can only assume he means it's been covered over by various building developments.
  15. That would be J69 68619, which was painted in GER livery. Superb photo:
  16. I've been thinking about your use of Balsa David. Would the humidity eventually cause any problems, such as warping?
  17. Hi David. Interesting problem. I can't think that the weather would cause that much issue. It's not overly hot, so although it would dry quicker, I doubt it would be quick enough to cause the problems you are experiencing. Could it be the brand of PVA is different? Have you made up the mixture differently?
  18. Fabia's are essentially a Polo, just without the price. The TDi engines are brilliant* * I'm not biased. I drive a Renault Clio!
  19. can't sleep; thinking about class 15's! Not sure the dr will give me tablets for that....

Surely more likely to section you for it. :-P

Thanks Kris! I was thinking specifically about which one to model in N gauge, as I found an IS models body. D8202 is likely to be the candidate.

He will only give you a tablet if you are on a single track line

  20. There is also the Bipper Tepee - it has a storage compartment in the roof - a bit like a loft.
  21. Hi Andrew. I've looked through this thread several times since you started it, and I am very impressed by your work. It's nice to see a 'contemporary' layout, especially in a small space.
  22. The BTCC is arguably one of the better motor sports to watch. I did exactly the same thing Ed!
  23. has graduated, and officially recognised as a teacher. Modelling time at last!

Congratulations. Hope that you have a job to go to.

    Dapol HST

Jon, Dapol's model is correct for 43 423. There is variation in the shape of the warning panel between power cars. I had to double check this myself!
  25. This is discussed elsewhere in this thread, and another I believe. In short: one of the straps broke when it was being lifted off the ship, and it was dropped a significant distance back onto the deck.
