    Hornby Star Class

Must get round to changing the wheels over on my 'Lode Star' (12-10 spoke). Always had a soft spot for the prototype, right up there with the most elegant locos IMHO!

    New Hornby Rocket

Now that does concern me as I have the Hornby decoder on order. Thanks for the heads-up. I will test very cautiously and ensure all wires are present and correct. Might see about modifying and ESU nano type decoder instead.
  3. Time to crack on in the loft again.

New lighting installed (Osram 9xx series) daylight tubes for an excellent natural rendition and lux rating.

  4. Now that does look the part. I would have kept mine had it looked like this in 'plain chocolate' rather than the 'milk chocolate' version I received. As it is, mine went back to Widnes for a refund. Hoping a subsequent release matches this - well done indeed!
  5. My 'milk chocolate' SR van went back for refund yesterday as I prefer 'plain chocolate' - funny how modelling mirrors real life - lol We might of course be pleasantly surprised if a subsequent version/release by the Big H is produced in darker form - here is hoping!
  6. Please 'no' - a yellow one would be lovely, but let those who want it weathered do that themselves and make a much better (than factory) job and those that want it pristine have an option too!
  7. So long as they don't go and spoil it with a weathered or gloss finish!
  8. If that is with smoke deflectors, 'SOUTHERN 850' on tender, Red cabside plaque and in Malachite Green then definitely seconded here!
  9. TCS DP2X UK in mine too! It defo fits. I have used other TCS chips and find them good though cannot comment on durability as not frequently operated.
  10. Loving all the above and I'll raise you all a: CR Cardean (oh-how I wish!) LNER Hush Hush SR Class L1 Mausell Buffet in SR Lined Olive Green with White Roof LMS Stanier Period 3 CK More Pullmans though with Cream at cant rail level BR Class 01/02/06 shunter BR Class 82/83/84 BR Class 86/2 Manys' the time I have backed loads of runners in the Grand National and not one has come in, though if any of the above do emerge, I will have a very Happy New Year!
  11. My 2 x 31102 arrived this morning. Finally a BR Blue Disc Headcode (Skinhead) Class 31 from Hornby which isn't weathered! First one run in already - started on TTS install, upgraded speaker ordered with added advantage of negating the need to remove the fan (although this is not functional anyway)
  12. Yes - it did look great to me too. Thoroughly looking forward to mine arriving in due course!
  13. Which would be wonderful, unless it is shiny (in gloss finish) in which case a 'No' from me!
  14. Think I saw a sample a Warley - can anyone else confirm?
  15. Mine arrived last week - from South Yorkshire (a certain well know supplier) to North Yorkshire (Me) as it were. Cracking model - very pleased!
  16. Lets see how far on things are at Warley, in the display case on the Heljan stand. Ideal chanced to speak to Heljan staff too.
  17. Just fitted a TCS DP2X-UK to my SECR 'H' Class 263, nice smooth job without trouble and runs well on the rolling road. Incidentally I have previously fitted an NCE D14SR which is a direct 8 pin, into my Model Rail Sentinel which works very well too all through my ESU ECoS.
  18. Pleased to hear that the new factory is up and operational and also the conclusion of the statement "......, many of which shall come to fruition this year" Looking forward to 14.1.19 next.
  19. The Class 31 - I think is the first time a BR Blue 'skinhead' version is available in pristine condition, previous issues being weathered. I stand to be corrected if wrong. On my list for purchases will be: 31102 - D5509 - BR Blue CCT - BR (ex LSWR) Brake Van - Q6 TTS Chip - RH Shunter. There my be further temptations I cannot resist. Sad not to see some additional restaurant cars / LMS Stanier P3's / Jubilee or Coronation full new sets. Thanks Andy and Thanks Hornby!
  20. What a lovely surprise! Bound to be popular and a winner for Hornby! Hornby's own website indicates DCC ready.
  21. A real surprise given Bachmann's recent release.
  22. So - would I need to renumber to an alternate Class 33/1 or is there a part I could swap-in instead to make it right (and if so where sourced)? Many thanks in advance for shedding any light!

  24. The previous three had numerals prefixing the title. Surprised no '4' on the front cover. Proof Reader error?
