  1. Thanks Andy. Had just looked at a VDA and noticed same, so was just thinking what you had already confirmed!
  2. My model arrived the other day. (have a few wagons and tanks in Express Dairies liveries now, and am eagerly awaiting the matching Hornby DS48). Anyway - I Just checked the wheels on my Bachmann 37-807. Definitely metal wheels, either chemically blacked or possibly painted. Not conducting from one side to the other of the same rim. Removed and rubbed hard on an old section of track and metal just start to show through. I did wonder about this on my running lines so have changed for the same/similarly profiled 36-015 Bachmann wheels!
  3. Looking for some specific Hornby wagons as follows: Please PM me if you can help. Much appreciated!
  4. Pleased you got a great result there Steve. What must have been a cost to Hornby which should be far outweighed by your customer satisfaction with them and good PR too for them, as you posted on here. Doubtless many are aware (thankfully I am not affected as not my thing) of a certain issue currently which appears not to be such good PR. Hopefully with some transparency (oil of troubled waters) Hornby might turn that around and with instances like your positive experience have happy customers who will in turn buy more products. Always looking for a 'win-win' when I can! Simon
  5. Looking for a couple of specific Wessex Wagons as follows: Please PM me id you can help. Much appreciated!
  6. If I am not happy with the livery colour, mine will be going straight back whence it came. I know there is a big debate over colours but as a buyer, it is my choice and I respect those who make different choices. What I struggle with is any manufacturers inability to produce consistency. If folks were happy with the first iteration of a model, why change a subsequent run and leave customers with a 'mis-match'!

    Hornby RTC Stock

I bought the Landore Breakdown Coach as this will not run with other RTC stock I have so won't stand out so noticeably as different. Also got the LMS Van, probably will site in a siding on away from other RTC stock. LAB 10, already got a Bachmann one of those, might be tempted by the Hornby one if Hornby do other RTC stock, otherwise will be leaving that one. Hope everyone else is happy with their's!
  8. I find that the process is somewhat easier and quicker if you have a laptop hooked up to the ECoS. It is a lot easier using a mouse for cursor control and the keyboard for naming your points (and even loco), than the touch screen of the ECoS. Simply my personal preference. I also have monitors at ceiling level which can display a duplicate ECoS screen (or indeed TV / Blu-ray / Laptop) as I so wish. That way I can clearly see route settings and even change from my iPhone or a tablet. Works a treat!
  9. That is a pleasant surprise. I am very much looking forward to the LMR J94 and would seriously consider a BR Late Crest example if one should turn up without weathering in a subsequent batch at some point!
  10. I'll wait for another run and hope for Olive Green or (if they ever ran in) yellow or late bauxite liveried variants!
  11. EOI from me yesterday. Another one of the 'weird & wonderful bunch' for my Railway Museum will look great parked in a siding of 'oddballs' awaiting an occasional outing. It might work an enthusiasts brake van special now and again. Hoping the headcode will be changeable? Trust this progresses to completion Best of luck KR!
  12. Hopefully not pulled from sale for anything major! Looking forward to this one, an stablemate for 'Sarah Siddons'!
  13. You spurred me on to have a go at mine today Ray! After changing my Rocket to 'Next18' for a neat fit in the barrel, I trust I might make a success of this too! Finger's crossed. Thanks again!

    New Hornby Rocket

Please see my two posts of 24th March on this thread. Converted to 'Next 18' and happy with the solution. Hope you find a satisfactory solution too!
  15. I had no trouble with the actually decoder using a Gaugemaster DCC23, which was fitted without the need for shortening the pins. I did suffer similarly though. Having been very careful to replace the keeper plate I was unprepared for the cylinder blocks to come away and have the valve gear almost instantly disassemble on me, Had the devils own job with a magnifier and tweezers and thought I had wrecked the model but did manage to my relief to reassemble and all works fine now thankfully!
  16. BR Blue [& grey] one ordered just now - what a wonderful surprise - thank you RevolutioN! No doubt it will spend a high proportion of it's time on my RTC based depot with lots of choice/competition for motive power! May even think about 73142 at some point. 29.7.81 will remain in my memory as a day (as a child) I played the part of HRH Prince Charles in our street party and, was also the month I took my interest in trains to new heights and started train spotting, so although never thought of this until now it is the perfect excuse splash out and on 'Caroline'! Nothing like justifying a purchase to oneself to make you feel better!
  17. I am a bit like you Steve and I do wonder as to Hornby matching the colour of the BR Blue against a Mk2E as opposed to their existing Mk1 range BR Blue (assuming they are not identical). Was Planning on running mine with my Mk1's - if it arrives and does not match the other Hornby BR Blue (&grey) Mk1's I already have, it could be going back whence it came! Likewise the green one I also have on order (matching an EMU and not the existing Green Mk1 range). Why expand an existing range of coaches [Mk1's] with a catering vehicle but match up the colour schemes of the additional vehicle with colours of other vehicles and not the existing Mk1's? I do accept most folks won't be as OCD but it still does not make much sense to me. Maybe someone can comment as to the differences if any between the existing MK1 ranges and the shades on the MK2E + 2BIL etc.

    Oxford N7

I would be interested to know how you get along with removal of the number on the model, wondering if Oxford numbers are as easy to remove as Bachmann's numbers from models, or otherwise how far down the 'stubborn' scale they are? Thanks (in advance) & Stay Safe!
  19. Noted that the SECR 'C' Class [31-460A] is on with Hatton's at £207 where as Rails have it at £189.50. Though Bachmann's own website has it at £224.95. Sure others will note price differentials too! Still good to see trading has resumed between the two!
  20. I picked up a tip on here ages ago which helped me. Take a clear plastic bag and place the model inside. Removal of the buffers is then risk free (so long an no holes in the bag) as anything which pings off is captured inside the bag for retrieval. You could for safety's sake, even leave the buffers and springs inside the bag until you are ready to reassemble so you cannot loose them though do beware of the springs locking with on another.
  21. Anyone know if there are to be anymore in this series please?
  22. Some very interesting postings above. I do hope that we will see releases of RTR Classes 81-84. I think it is correct that the most likely would be Class 81 though do agree with the livery comments for the Class 83 and there are also similar points (on livery options) which could be made for Class 82 + Class 84. I would always be wanting BR Blue TOPS versions myself with Domino Headcode or at least blinds which I could change to domino, though appreciate we all have our favourite guises. Not previously considered [31-676a] though having recently seen early blue (NYP) on YouTube (by AC Loco Fan) I would love to acquire one of these and will in all probability pre-order. They look great on a rake of Maroon MkI's, though also wonder if I could legitimately run at the head of my Maroon Portholes or even other liveried MkI's such as Green/Chocolate & Cream on inter-regionals, or even Blood & Custards? Anyway, put me down for at least one of each if anything in the Class81-Class84 spread does emerge. I would not be surprised given all diesel class have now been done with only a handful of shunter left to go at - fingers crossed! Stay safe everyone!
