  1. And, with a different cab you could have a variety of S Wales locos - TVR, R&SB and I guess others, more mods could give you GWR absorbed.
  2. They should go to the red and black of the decoder or anywhere earlier in these - connect the same as loco pickup and the same side- in other words the pickups on each side of the loco and tender should go to that side's decoder TRACK connection
  3. Used a variety of non-Epson cartridges over the years with no problems on 2-3 different printers. Next time buy an Ecotank printer!😁Less fiddling and much cheaper per print.
  4. Thanks for that; as you'll appreciate having a comprehensive library for railway info outside the main interest is limited! I'll bear in mind your comments - I appreciate that the supplier is in no way responsible for my mods! Good to see your book again in advert listings- shame about the reduced price!
  5. This being an LNER orientated forum, please could someone give me the full wheelbase spacings for a LNER C2 (nee GNR C2) 4.4.2T. All I can find is the total wheelbase so far. I am trying to create a chassis to fit a Vulcan Foundry TVR 4.4.2T Class C ( 5' 9" +6' 11.5"+ 7'10"+ 6' 0") and accept that modifying some other chassis frame is the most likely route for me. More broadly have I missed something like Mike Sharman's wheels book but for chassis wheelbases; there must be others looking to adopt chassis for locos other than those for kits for more "popular" locos? Thanks
  6. If you have a multimeter then with nothing in the DCC Ready Socket check that no wheel is connected to the wiring at the motor end. if poss rotate the motor so that this is tested for the full driver rotation. Also when running on straight DC check that there are no sparks, or odd noises etc - this would show intermittent shorts which would blow the decoder or t least trip it. (Frankly i have a similar unsolved problem in which the loco works well on dc, the decoder tests out on a decoder tester, no detected shorts and yet the loco doesn't run on dcc and the decoder gets hot. Guess which manufacturer made the loco.😁) Goof luck!
  7. I don't think problems are all down to the end user - try typing HM 7000 in the support field and you end up in HM DC only - or that is what I f got. There seems to be some distancing between te support site and HM7000 support - it badly needs at least a link at a high level. These are my personal views - others may differ😏
  8. Just used HM7000 for the first time now that Android app is out (Does anyone know what Android versions work - my latest phone doesn't, Amazon Fire does) App better than expected after initial learning curve
  9. There are units running on the Bidston to Wrexham route based at Birkenhead North Shed; 3 trains worth. Tho these are owned, not leased, by the Welsh co. AFAIK
  10. Sharman's Wheel book. As Sharmans book is currently in the 4th edition (S4 Society), have the errors mentioned previously been corrected, please?
  11. My wife commented about curtains etc as era (sorry) and status dependent. Linings were fairly recent in the average house and curtains as well. E.g. Terraced houses previously would have lace curtains more or less against the glass to stop people ( ?modellers?) looking in, up to 1950s or so. Comments?.
  12. And another additional point - on line copies can be updated easily against the alternative of destroying &/or changing obsolete pre-printed paper.
  13. Kidderminster did have at least one ex Taff Vale Mink - . So was the red brown either TVR or early GWR?😀
  14. Puzzled that Montana seems to have got less and less to do as the series goes on; totally invisible last night. Especially with her enthusiasm earlier for getting into 3d printing.
  15. Puzzled by the use of a LNER P2? body in LNER green when 9F bodies were being evaluated. Why? P2 body being above the 9F body; occurred twice IMHO
  16. I think you've hit the nail on the head - another result in "later"GWR days of changing the boilers to GWR types. Of course the TVR had one line with engines (3 - TVR H Class) having taper boilers - Pwllyrhebog incline. Chimney at uphill end and a tall dome as well!.
  17. You need to supply evidence for the TVR Passenger trains - as I have written elsewhere, look at, for example, Merthyr TVR line Passenger departing train photos where NO example of a early GWR(ex TVR) and TVR 0-6-2T is running bunker first. In addition I have corre from HT Hobbs (a major contributor to RCTS Part 10 ) that engines were turned on the turntables at Merthyr, Aberdare, Treherbert, Cardiff and Penarth all had (small) turntables for the purpose. I however do not think this necessarily applies to freight/mineral.
  18. Assuming that it is not a requirement for thhe photographs to have been taken on the ECML etc, I nominate SJ Rickard and from a different era HT Hobbs A facinating forum!
  19. Is it possible that ep 1 pulled because of the 2 last probs; the F Scotsman wheel lock (TT120?) and the future depending on a rather dubious loco not in the catalogue ever?
  20. Apols if I've missed reporting of it but the 2023 catalog backcover is out of date; "The catalogue shows items planned for introduction in 2022" and elsewhere, e.g.; "Hornby products are available only through authorised retailers" From pedant proof-reader.:) I'm amazed by the number of models for issue in the next year or so; A4+A1/A3+HST variations alone totally exceed the total number of types manufactured by Hornby (Meccano). And that in 4mm alone. The catalogue is 228 pages and about 1cm thick and heavy.
  21. My old meter did the reverse movement when solar energy supporting the uk power grid. I was advised by Which and Internet that this use is illegal and failure to report it is likely to lead to a recalculated bill and penalties when detected. (However the new meter was mis-wired on installation and took out the solar safety device - ultimately replaced and the solar firm (ikea) got the finances sorted to my satisfaction.)
  22. Simples - Just type on top of the existing figure(s) with your requirements and the speed drops out.
