  1. Hi all, Heres a sneak preview of the test build 4mm scale, 009 guage Harrogate gas works and Statfold barn Peckett loco kits. Still can't say when they will be available as some minor tweaking is needed first. Available though is this little etch which whilst is intended for some fo the 4mm scale narrowgauge loco kits as above, it can be used on standard gauge locos as well, contains gauges, small handwheels and a reversing lever. Regards Robert RT Models
  2. Hi all, Now available in 4mm scale is a pair of lost wax injectors for the Austerity/J94 0-6-0ST at £3.20 a pair. One side will need the centre drilled and carefully cleaned but otherwise i am very happy with them. Regards Robert RT Models
  3. Hi all, just a quick note to say the chassis is back in stock again. Regards Robert RT Models
  4. Thankyou Adam, hope you enjoy building it. Must admit i hate writing instructions! Regards Robert RT Models
  5. Apologies everyone, it was available but didn't expect it to sell out in a hour! Another batch was ordered earlier in the week so these will come soon. Regards Robert RT Models
  6. Lots to add here Also available after 1 year is the former clarke kits Stanton Slag ladle wagon Wagon kits This has been updated with etches The skinningrove wagon is now available as only one wagon without loads, this gives people the chance to add what they want. Also the gallery page has been done in-house, this will takes ages to do but i will get there eventually, not as quick to do as the Fotopic was! There is another chassis kit being made available soon in 4mm scale, the Ruston DS48 A very simple fold up chassis with brake gear There is more coming up soon in other gauges but will announce nearer the time. Regards Robert RT Models
  7. You beat me to posting on here! Yes it is available now . the Austerity/J94 chassis is now available on the website at £22.00 Austerity chassis kit Regards Robert RT Models
  8. Thankyou for your kind comments everyone The waterfall was actually my second attempt. The first time i followed Woodland scenics instructions and found it to curl up. so the second time, i cut a piece of the plastic packaging, covered it both sides in water effects and once dry, i attached it to the layout. This was then dry brushed with white paint and when dry a further layer of water effects was added to seal it and add texture.
  9. Hi all, i thought i would reveal my layout on here. This is my first ever proper layout which has been in the making for the last 5 or 6 years! This was done as something to test ideas and develop techniques on which they have been very successful and others i have learnt from! Its not based on anywhere but ST Reatham does exist but certainly looks nothing like the scene depicted by the layout! Already having ideas for another layout before finishing this one but something that i can run both 00 and 009 on as all my 00 gauge locos and rolling stock is currently stuck in boxes Anyway, hope you enjoy and will welcome any comments or questions, good or bad!
  10. Hi all, i thought i would add my small account of building my Chattenden and Upnor Railway Baguley Drewry built from the RT Models kit in 4mm scale, 009 gauge. I decided that i would build one for myself to go on my layout. Deciding which version was to prove hard. After looking at photos of new builds and in service of them abroad i decided that i would build it as near to original condition as possible to the Chattenden and Upnor Railway. There was no diviations from the instructions. The cab was soldered up and the rest was assembled with superglue. The coupling rod holes i found needed opening up slightly to 1.5mm as it was a little tight compared to the first chasssis i used. The Jackshaft drive was added to the Graham Farish Outside framed 08 chassis as well. The model was cleaned with cream clener then left to dry. the whole model was brush painted. I start with a undercoat of matt black, the body was then painted with Humbrol Brunswick green with some areas including the chassis sides painted matt black over the course of several days. Bufferbeams was railmatch bufferbeam red. Once all this had dried, i varnished the model with Railmatch saturn Varnish. After several days, I masked and painted the top of the exhuast with Humbrol Metalcote Aluminium as well as the light lenses. Weathering was done with firstly a wash of Matt Black, then a wash of Humbrol leather to the bufferbeams and chassis with some dry brushing which was carried out to the top of the exhuast. Glazing was done by carefully flooding the outside with varnish, inside the cab. This is the second time i had to fix glazing as i found the Evergreen glazing doesn't seem to like the varnish or thinners and made it go white when i did the wash so the originals had to be removed. Lastly, with a sharp scalpel, the paint was scraped off the window frames to reveal them. After a few hours running in, the model runs really smoothly and am very pleased with it. Regards Mr T RT Models
  11. Thankyou for your comments, just need to glaze it which i will do at the same time as another model and add the screw couplings and add a fall plate. For a 4-4-0, this is a very heavy loco which the front bogie takes most of the weight directly with no springing other than to centralise it but have never run it with rolling stock, just round a small test track. Glad its inspiring you to continue with your PDK kit Fen End Pit. Ever since i saw a photo of one i had to have one with its decorative framing.
  12. Hi all, this is my first ever blog. I've decided to finish off some projects that need some small work doing as to be honest i rarely do anything of my own these days. Well, heres some pictures of stuff that are quick and easy jobs. My GER D16/3 was built from a old Mallard models kit i bought about 5 years ago along with a LNER J50 at the same time built from a DJH kit which requires further detailing and the gearbox and motor installed and of course painted to work cross London workings. Regards Robert RT Models
  13. Looking very nice so far, does the PDK kit cater for the original decorative frames not that i'm planning on building another, just wondering.
  14. Yes you are right Kenton about the Gallery link as Fotopic has ceased to exist, it would require removing every the button from every page and there is quite a few so its been left as I am exploring other sources and ideas at the moment but havn't had much time to do so.
  15. Hi all, a very quick note that the website has just been updated and now features the 4mm scale etched couplings designed for most of my wagon kits as well as the former Bal Models wagon kits also. Also the first graham farish outside framed class 08 chassis scale drawing is now available, this one features the jackshaft drive. Also a order form is now available for those that wish to order by post. Feedback would be much appreciated. sorry if you see the same messages crop up elsewhere but sometimes some people miss such relevent stuff on other topics which they may be asking about. Regards Robert http://www.rtmodels.co.uk
  16. Thats ok James. On saturday i was showing people at the Rainford narrowgauge show the jackshaft conversion as well as outside cylinder conversion for the N gauge outside framed 08 chassis, quite a few people was surprised at how easy it was without making any modifications to the chassis itself. I know one person borrowed my chattenden drewy for testing on a layout and they was surprised at how well it works dispite the motor not liking the feedback controller. The peckett was meant to be released at that show but with the way things have been going at the moment i've not had the time to get it finished and only had a partly completed version on show which again alot of people was interested in it. Barber is the next 009 gauge loco to be done after the peckett. If you wanted wagons to match these Harrogate Gas Works locos, narrowplanet will be doing the wagons at some point, i know he has some basic test etches done already. With my websites gallery page i'm currently looking at other providers if i dare trust them as another has disappeared as well or will try ways on my website as well although it actually would take longer to load new images up.
  17. just got to send the drawing off the week after to alter the brake pull rods and that should be it, everything else is spot on. Havn't got much time on my hands recently so everythings going a lot slower. Regards Robert RT Models
  18. Hi Everyone, just a quick note that i will be releasing at the narrow gauge at rainford, merseyside on saturday 9th april a new range of 4mm scale, 009 gauge wagon couplings and loops to suit my 009 gauge wagon kits and some of the old Bal models kits as well. I won't have the 009 gauge Harrogate Gasworks Peckett ready for the show as hoped, (been a bad few weeks for me) but should have a largely completed example on display. Some of the wagon kits have also had new moulds made so the quality of the castings is better and the NGWK003 generic slate rubbish wagon has been modified to aid in drilling out the axle boxes as well as improved castings. Regards Robert RT Models The website
  19. Myself, i drill the holes into the bottoms of the cylinder blocks and carefully glue the etches ends in with superglue.
  20. Hi kenton, believe it or not, the driver is my measurements taken from myself before i started making him! Compare like for like to left! not everyone looks like merit figures! he does have a arm to attach which i had to make seperate sadly as it wouldn't have been possible to remove from the mould easily or at all. I have noticed someone did thin him down abit for their model. Looking good Kenton
  21. helps if i include the link! http://rtmodels.fotopic.net/p69311223.html
  22. looks brilliant paul. For those interested including paul, heres a photo of the upgraded kit ready for release which now has etches, production etches being delivered shortly. Just like Paul i'm waiting for the chain also and the wheels and bearings to complete the kit. Regards Robert RT Models www.rtmodels.co.uk
  23. Its luck of the draw when you order due to the various shifts i do although i do my best to post asap, i'm sure you can guess what my job is! Sometimes i won't be able to get to the post office for days due to the times i work, that time you ordered Kenton would have been when i was having a day off and i don't get many of them!
  24. Hi Kenton, yes it is a very big loco with alot of overhang just for a 0-6-0
  25. Hi Morris, i don't like to say too much as to what i'm doing in advance as they may not always be on schedule as planned for various reasons, one at the moment is work!
