  1. Hi all, it was probably worth going to make the site visit as the site of the rowntrees warehouse and rowntrees cottage is about to be knocked down shortly as i came across a planning application. Found some old rail chairs on the route as well as well as the old fencing. Heres the photos from penkridge as far as the M6 motorway which now has gates across and is clear no one has been down to them for years.
  2. Hi all, just a quick update that the website has been updated finally with the new releases from the ExpoEM North and Scaleforum shows, all in 4mm scale. Work is about to commence on the SR N Class footplate as some basic dimensions and designs have been drawn up (no really it is Horsetan, i did say by the end of 2012!), the Austerity Lambton cab and hopefully depending on the test etches, a new 4mm scale loco kit that only took a few hours to create! Some 2mm, 4mm and 7mm stuff should be sent off at the end of the week for test etches also. I'm having another mould made soon so some patterns for whitemetal castings will be thrown in for some new parts soon.
  3. Thankyou for the extra links, much appreciated. Sadly I've already painted the brake vans ready for transfers (will need to experiment with doing my own again). I've just been and walked the line today from penkridge as far as the M6 bridge which now has gates across, found some old rail chairs on the way. At the weekend I will post some photos, just waiting for the bus to wolverhampton now.
  4. Thankyou for this Gordon, much appreciated. as to the nameplates, scum comes to mind but we'll leave it at that! One thing i will ask, of the models paints available, what seems to be the closest to the loco blue? The 2 ex SR brake vans appear to be a darker blue than the locos in old colour photos which to me looked like Dark Network south east blue and have already put the first coat on the brake vans which actually looks spot on! I'm actually going to go and visit the former railway soon on one of my days off as its not too far for me luckily.
  5. the only etched set im aware of was from Chris Leighs range.
  6. That could be the case as I've seen a colour photo in a book with a manning wardle with the a449 bridge in the background but to the right of it is a large open fronted building with a Yorkshire engine company 0-6-0 diesel poking out with yellow bufferbeams and its either a very dark green or black but cannot actually decide what colour it is.
  7. Hi Mark, Its between the A449 and leading towards the M6. I've managed to find a map on the link provided to old maps, thankyou "thesignalengineer" for that, much appreciated. As its not too far from me and could do with going that way to collect some stuff of mine I will make a site visit which looking at google maps looks possible.
  8. Hi james, I havnt had the chance to do any pattern making due to not being to get to the work bench (hudson was drawn on the computor) but I've had a big sort out after the house move so hoping to get going soon, I would want to get photos of the real loco when restored to get it as accurate as possible as luckily the real loco is still with us. But the major componants I can certainly crack on with soon.
  9. Hello everyone, I'm interested in knowing what the track layout of boscomoor sidings was which I assume from looking at google maps was between the mainline and the M6. I havnt come across any photos to show anything conclusive as those seem to be taken slightly below track level.
  10. Hi Mark, The London Transport parts in 4mm scale comprises of engineering rolling stock jumper cable sockets, diamond bogies and oval foldable type buffers. Some more needed on the brake van and flat but now with the castings it has brought them a stage closer to being released, much to my relief and probably other as well as I'm coming a stage closer to getting the to do list cleared!
  11. Hi Gordon, heres the photos as promised as well as it with buffers now. Now in stock are etched brass "Hunslet of leeds" works plates in both 4mm and 7mm scale.
  12. I'll post the photos tomorrow as its my day so will get to use the computor properly.
  13. Hi Gordon, They are produced as rigid chassis's but shouldn't take much effort to fit inside square bearings and guides. Note on the prototype the bearings are fitted to the outside faces of the chassis, NOT the inside like on locos.
  14. Good evening everyone, just to let you know that the 4mm scale hudson tipper wagons are in stock and are priced at £17.00 per wagon or £80.00 for a pack of 5. The above prices include alan gibson universal wheel profile wheels, if they are not required then the kits are £2.70 less per wagon. £14.30 and £66.50 respectively. Also to be released all in 4mm scale for the EM gauge north show this weekend and Scaleforum at the end of the month is some surprise detailing items not announched, something for steelworks, something for the southern railway and before covering the late 1800's to the end of steam in 1967 for central and south western sections (and more upgrades to the Albert Goodall range) and LT loco and wagon detailing parts. (sorry no N class footplate Horsetan at the moment) The basic Sentinel test etch is here and will be on display both weekends. The website will not be updated with new items till early october at least. I hope to see you at either (or both) shows which feel free to introduce yourself and have a chat.
  15. Hi adam, yes buffers will be included as well as brass bearings. A mould is going to be made for them next week.
  16. Hi all, heres the test build of the 4mm scale Hudson Tipper wagon. Some minor tweaking needed but otherwise it builds wells, this version sits on the EM/P4 chassis and is built to EM gauge.
  17. If anyone is interested in reserving a hudson tipper wagon provided that they are released on time, please let me know off group/email the quantity and whether you will be picking them up in september at manchester or leatherhead exhibitions. Prices look likely to be up £15 per wagon including wheels and £70 for a 5x wagon multipack.
  18. Looks like I'm going to have to make a journey, do you know how long it will be staying?
  19. I'll have to watch out for this when running my 2EPB on the clubs layout once we've finished the wiring as there's plenty of gradiants.
  20. I have to do this myself dispite being what I consider a 00 gauge finescale modeller with no layout which some of my stock will not go around my clubs new layout! Luckily peco's largest radius comes to the rescue but each section has glued to it a piece of their foam underlay to reduce any chances of dirt and hairs getting in the mechanisms. With you having wood sections would be a very similar approach.
  21. Hi all Has it really been a month since ive last said anything on this thread! Moving house hasn't helped. Well, not much to report really, development work is slowly being carried out on the 4mm scale sentinel which i'm hoping to have (fingers crossed) a basic test etch of it on display at both the EM and Scale Four exhibitions in september. However if the next test etch comes out ok and for a surprise, i should have released at the shows the 4mm SG Hudson Tipper Wagon found at many collieries for removing spoil. Chilton Iron works used to do a model many years ago of it. Also i should have some of the LT wagon cast parts available for sale.
  22. Ive just seen the price, (didnt take notice of the price at Telford), makes me seem like i'm seriously under charging!
  23. I saw one myself at the telford narrow gauge show last sunday and they looked ok but had what looked like standard Hornby wheels. Think it was a one piece casting.
  24. Hi all, Just added to the website is albert goodalls scale drawings and paper overlays. Also the revised 4mm scale, 009 gauge HGW Drewry is now available again. Thankyou for emailing the notes over Horsetan.
  25. Yes please Horsetan, can never have enough notes! I have been passed on more notes so I've got to sit down and go through these. The crests and badges I havnt taken on as yet as there's still loads for me to so Jim is still dealing with these for the moment.
