  1. Hello everyone, Regarding the current situation with orders to the EU, unfortunately for now I won't be able to dispatch orders to any country in the EU until further notice. Orders within the UK and the rest of world are ok. I will resume posting orders after Christmas as I know the Royal Mail are over whelmed with the amount of post they are handling. Thank you to all who has ordered from me, this year in particular has been a very challenging year for all sorts of reasons. I would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
  2. That is fantastic Jon. The examples I photographed and measured still had London Transport on them although faded.
  3. It depends on flip dots. There was 3 makes that I know of.... Voltron Brightech Hanover I don't have personal experience of Vultron but seen them fitted to ex Hong Kong buses. Brightech I had fitted in a London Transport B15 Leyland Titan, T1000 to be precise. It was unusual in that it had a device the travelled the length of the blind and poked each square dot to turn them round. If you turn them yourself by hand it knew you did and would correct it! Hanover uses electromagnets to flip each dot round to black or yellow. I fitted the latter to my Hong Kong Leyland Olympian as it was missing it's blind box which had originally tyvek blinds for the ultimate destination band flip dots for the numbers. Some buses had these in the UK also. The reason I chose a flip dot over LED was because when the bus is switched off, it still shows its blind but also as I do filmwork, so it doesn't flicker as most LED's do. These was taken earlier today as I had to pop to the yard and wanted to change the display for publicity purposes. Last photo shows mid changeover as the dots change across and not all at once. The RMC Routemaster on the right will be reverting back to its 3 piece blind box layout soon that it gained in the late 1980's which made it look like a normal RM.
  4. Certainly the yellow on black known as dayglo came in the mid 90's. The reason my own company/rail replacement blinds (which are joined with the dayglo ones) are white on black is purely as they will be used constantly, they will not fade unlike dayglo which does. I prefer these Tyvek blinds to LED versions, especially when in this front format to give more information be clarity. There is HD versions of LED blinds with more LED's in them. Go North East did order some Wright Gemini 3's with a extra LED sign fitted to give a similar layout. The blinds did cost just as much to have made as a full set of LED units from the same manufacturer!
  5. For something completely different and preservation can be of any age. A bus I restored a few months ago and is in regular use with me now. Built in 2004, this is the 1007th of Wright's first double decker bus design, the Gemini. This one is slightly unusual as it is mounted on the DAF DB250 chassis and has a 9.2 litre engine. Most double-deckers these days range from 5 to 8 litres, 7 being the most common. First photo is as restored now, second I Poorly photographed when new and last in service on rail replacement.
  6. I have only just come across this topic. When operating both preplanned and emergency rail replacement bus services, they still are required to serve temporarily closed stations. The photo was taken on route from Shrewsbury to Llanwrtyd at crossgates which there was no passengers on at the time.
  7. Thank you Hayfield. I think they will work.
  8. Hello everyone, Would anyone have photos of Chris's coreless motors as I'm looking to repower a backwoods Garrett and looking into whether they would fit in the bodies?
  9. Good to see you've been doing some modelling Tim unlike myself as you could probably tell when I've parked up opposite your house blocking the sunlight out! I'm hoping to get time to do some modelling after Christmas.
  10. Hello everyone, It's hard to believe its been since June since I last replied to this topic as I have been flat out with everything. I have virtually caught up with orders now with the final current ones being packed this weekend provided I don't get called out for anything. Any others orders being placed should be posted in time for Christmas, the cut off being 17th December 18.00 unless it goes out Special delivery at extra cost. Postage rates have been changed, UK £2.00 orders up to £14.99 £3.95 orders from £15.00 to £59.99 Post free orders over £60.00 and sent special delivery. As a special note, I do have x4 of my elusive 4mm scale, 009 gauge De Winton loco kits in stock currently.
  11. If you require the gas producing glass fibre chimney, RT Models does a white metal casting as well as various other austerity parts.
  12. That's a shame to hear as I normally serve the station on a regular basis on rail replacement.
  13. Hello everyone, Just to keep you all updated. Etches have been ordered a few weeks ago as the etchers reopened. I don't know when these will arrive but hopefully not too long. If something is out of stock and you want to purchase it, you can do this now but be aware of the delay in posting it as I do not know when the etchers will post them out. I have resubmitted the 4mm scale, 00/EM/P4 Ironstone side tipper dump car drawings for its next test etch. Hopefully it should build ok now and corrected some of its faults. There is some other kits under development at the moment and some test drawings will be reworked on.
  14. Its not 217, this is the other one. 217 I helped with mot prep when it was bought from the Museum by a new bus company and first re-entered service at King Alfred running day many years ago. The one at onibury is actually restored as I saw it and spoke to the owner before its restoration commenced.
  15. Hello everyone, the Garratt is now finally finished and will be weathered shortly to be as close as it was late in life at Sneyd Colliery. The nameplates supplied in the kit appear to be too long to me so will get some custom made at some point.
  16. I better finish my drawings and get my order in! Thank you Mozzer
  17. Hello everyone, famous last works from me last time about the situation! At the moment, Etches are running out and I cannot restock until the etchers reopen which has affected a lot of other businesses but castings I am fine on. I am doing my best to keep up with stock levels and sometimes discovering stock elsewhere during my clean up so you never know what could reappear. At the moment in between building models for myself for a nice change, I'm back to redesigning kits so the next release should be the 4mm scale Ironstone dump car wagon having learnt a lot from the first design. A lot of reworking is going into this where there was issues but also to make it easier to build. Hopefully I should have some other kits designed and sent ready to have test etches done when the etcher reopen. I wont be restocking everything at one as this will help free capacity for other businesses for now, only the popular items or those who may have already paid for it.
  18. Met Brake van and dropside wagon kits from South Eastern finecast. Hurst Nelson brake van and RW60 rail wagon kits from RT models plus bogies, drophead oval buffers and socket castings. There used to be GP50 wagon kits from Radley models but having just checked the website it does not appear anymore. RtR, Bachmann 20T BR type brake van.
  19. Hello, I have finally finished my 4mm scale Backwards Minuatures Beyer Garratt. The kit has been a bit of a pain to build and have put it off over the years and the footplate along with the buffer centre line being too narrow. Anyway, I've forced myself to finish before starting anything else and have built it to as close to Sneyd Colliery's example and will be such named. I will be priming it tonight. I have also purchased a Oxford Road Janus recently, not a loco I ever wanted but thought why not. The buffers have been replaced with RT Models Yorkshire engine oval loco buffers and the hole on the bufferbeam filled in,
  20. Hello Tony, the Mallard D16/3 chassis is a bizarre design but I went along with it on mine and means I was able to pack all of the boiler with lead. The front bogie with beefed up bearings takes a lot of the locos weight. I still need to add pick ups to its front bogie and glazing so this weeks job hopefully. The Kitson A class 0-6-0ST is now almost finished. The lining even after a coat of varnish shows signs of carrier film annoyingly and a piece has broken away and needs replacing. I wont be weathering the loco as it will hide the lining but also, usually on industrial railways the crews kept their locos spotless usually depending where they worked.
  21. The 4mm scale Kitson A class is now almost finished. Part of the lining has come away and needs replacing and some of the carrier film is exposed sadly even though it was applied them on a gloss surface.
  22. Hello, some further progress of my 4mm scale, 00 gauge Kitson Consett A class. Painting now finished, just needs lining then varnishing. I have also finally finished some RT Models Hudson tipper wagons, there is a third but awaiting some 3 hole disc wheels just for a bit of variety in the rake.
  23. Hello Tony, with things going quieter for me at the moment but I'm still working in the desolate outside world. I have had the chance to complete those half finished projects. Just finished and red oxide primered after these photos was taken is a 4mm scale Judith Edge kit of the Kitson Consett A class, they even had rights to run on the main Line.
  24. Hello everyone, well its been a long time since I've updated this. Recently things have started to go a bit quiet for me, so time to finish those half completed projects. This one is a 4mm scale kit by Judith Edge of the Kitson Consett A class 0-6-0PT that ran in the north east. I've always liked the locos so when Mike produced the kit, I had to have one my first build of one of their kits.
