  1. Hello everyone, just to let you know I will be attending my first exhibition of 2019 this weekend at the "London festival of railway modelling" at Alexandra Palace, London on March 23rd, 24th 2019. It is hoped there might be a couple of new releases in 4mm scale standard gauge, useful if you like Pecketts and early hunslets.
  2. As Tony knows from our talk at the Stafford show, a lot of his kit building articles I really enjoyed in my teens and there was variety from mixed media kits to fully etched ones. I learnt and aspired to these, so much so I built my first etched and whitemetal loco aged 14. In my view, the articles need to inspire, teach and show what can be done and how to. If none of the techniques are shown, how is anyone meant to know what and how to do? Not everyone is confident in going head first into the unknown. I'm hoping to sit down and right some kit building or conversion articles in the near future when I get a bit of spare time to encourage others in the future. In my teens I used to get book at shows as a demonstrator until I started working, partly to show if someone so young can build kits, then why not other age groups?
  3. Not suitable for the first 10 either, different shape. the main difference is the width. mn cabs are 9'0" wc/Bob was 8'6" up to number 70 then 9'0" afterwards. those that was rebuilt received 9'0" cabs. bulleid Pacifics are a minefield.
  4. Hello rka, series 3 only had a wedge/v shaped cab which this is unsuitable for.
  5. Hello RKa, Unfortunately it's not suitable dimensionally in both length and width for 11-20 series
  6. You are correct about 21C111 later 34011 Tavistock as she did not gain a Wedge shaped cab until late 1952, certainly a photo I have of her in BR experimental apple green still has the original square cab. its not too difficult to form, a scale drawing will be supplied. if you go by the rear cab turn ins these help a lot.
  7. On the subject of teachers, I've been very lucky in having lots of encouragement with my hobbies and career choice. Certainly in primary school one teacher used to say I was going to be in the papers (for good reasons) and she was right, on numerous occasions as well as some acting on TV. (Mr Franks is not the only one on here ;)) In secondary school it was suggested I went to university to do a transport degree but my problem is I get bored in a classroom and love to be out and about. In the end I did a home study course in 5 weeks around work and did my "certificate of professional competence in passenger transport" which means I'm qualified to run a bus company (transport manager) anywhere in the EU. Ive certainly seen some teachers lose it in school as the pupils push the teachers to the limit and know the strain myself having driven school buses, the language and stuff said is worse than adults.
  8. I still supply to the US as well as the rest of the world. All I ask is for the extra overseas postage to be added by the buyer from the home page or if forgotten, after you've checked out as it doesn't work out the postage for outside the UK
  9. I haven't got a definite price for the cab yet but shouldn't be more than £10
  10. Hello everyone, currently under development from RT Models / Albert Goodall is the original West Country 8'6" square cab . The fit is very good, however the front of the cab needs altering slightly to match the body profile better. Also to be released soon once the join lines have been thinned down as they are too thick are WC/BoB smoke deflectors in both original short and 1948 locomotive exchange extra long versions.
  11. Hello everyone, the west country locomotive body has arrived today allowing me to test the original 8'6" square cab on it. The fit is very good, however the front of the cab needs altering slightly to match the body profile better.

  14. Hello everyone, The test etches arrived on Monday before going to work for various 4mm scale standard and narrow gauge items. it is clear a few items will need tweaking unfortunately but that's what test etches are for and I've been experimenting with some of it. hopefully in a few days I will start to post some of the items in progress.
  15. Hello Tony, Having come across a photo posted on a site today of an overturned A2/1 60608 Duke of Rothesay, I was amazed to see it paired with a 6 wheel tender. Was this the only LNER Pacific with a 6 wheeled tender and was there a particular reason for it? After a quick internet search found this photo of it standing right way up, link posted.
  16. Bec models in Tooting Bec, Sarth London was my local shop. Oh if only I was knowledgable back then with all those BSL coach kits in the cabinet. But the shop kept in stock all sorts like Romford wheels and gears where I would attempt to convert locos or scratch build. whilst such shops are virtually none existent now, we should be lucky that shows are as plentiful as they are, especially with the cottage industry people present to get those specialist or odd ball bits. Down the road from where Bec Models was is Janes Trains in Tooting which is still going and I believe the only model shop left in London now, how times have changed from 15 to 20 years ago.
  17. It was good to meet you Tony on Saturday at the Stafford show. My only personal purchase that day model wise was a 2nd hand David geen whitemetal 14t tank wagon kit and I got stuck into it that evening. It is almost finished bar the securing wires, buffers and couplings. Its always nice to build something different plus add to my quite large wagon collection, virtually all kit built and mostly hand lettered with a mapping pen, inspired by Geoff Kent. Maybe that should be my small layout to get on with, a goods yard? I will pop some photos up shortly.
  18. Would that be the lost wax brass bulleid Pacific brake gear? there is some left but the pins are missing. unfortunately I do not have the patterns anymore as the original casting company never returned them and they are no longer trading so the moulds I paid for have disappeared. i will need to do some more in the future but probably with the pins left out.
  19. In all honesty, I have never been abroad in my life despite being a millennial. The only time I have left this island was to visit Anglesey and the Isle of Wight. And yet I now drive round in a ex Hong Kong bus most days, partly for capacity reasons but also because I always liked them from photos
  20. For my two penny's worth, not far from me in Shrewsbury in the village of Atcham there is a church dedicated to St Eata, again unique. Part of the research I carried out for the sightseeing bus tour where there is also a retired road bridge where house martins live beside the now main road bridge.
  21. Wave a torch all over the model when photographing as the camera could take around 10 seconds to take the photo, thereby almost eliminating shadows and decent light. A couple of examples of photos taken with this method.
  22. Hello Mozzer, I have already confirmed to attend Scaleforum in September so far
  23. Such is the timing, there is larger head Peckett buffers available from RT Models http://www.rtmodels.co.uk/rt_models_023.htm
