Well April turns to May and some new stock has been coming online at Minsterley. FGW HST with biffo MTU chips, new scratch-built- lit camera wagon and some newly weathered VGA/Cargowagons. Sound class 67 in the pipeline too. Have found the camera wagon/cabride vids, have a second purpose; ie lets me know how straight and smooth my tracks are/are not !! Having a look at the Subway video I've discovered 3 track kinks due to expansion, going on under there. Up top, no problem, but the flextrack is obviously a lot warmer down under and not all of it is glued into place....hence the expansion kinks. So correcting them as we speak, with some fishplated expansion joints and glued ballast. Can't go wrong with a sound chipped loco for £40. I've heard the TTS's and they're very good, great value. Top model engineering Jim, by the way, great stuff! Dave

Just one lottery win....and it would be nice!! Dave

Cheers Anthony/Peter. The video is done with a Cannon SLR...ok for pointing at one location but I think for fast moving shots/pans etc a normal video camera might be better, as the Autofocus on those seems to be much better than the autofocus of an SLR, for videoing; no mechanical lense motor noise etc.. Great to see this one coming back...one of my favourites. Dave

This is modelling 'porn' of the highest order Terry 8) . For me, something that looks that good should be 'done all the way' and motorised. But that's just my opinion. Tremendous stuff mate...well done indeed !!! Dave

Thanks Adam....wish I could spend all day in there too. Dave

That's some intricate detailing there on the underside of that tamper Terry...looks amazing !! Really looking forward to its first outing on Glebe Rd. Good luck with the new job mate Dave

Many thanks chaps. The camera is a CAMSports helmet camera, strapped to an intermodal flat, with some insulating tape. Works a treat. Motive power, courtesy of 70006. Dave

James Makin's Workbench - 1990s dirty diesels & grotty wagons
Doughnut replied to James Makin's topic in Layout topics
Cracking modelling!! I Enjoy your thread James. Dave -
Thankyou Lee for your very kind comments. I am pleased you like Minsterley. The paint used for the Yorkshire Millstone walls was, I think, an overall coat of Matt Humbrol Desert yellow No.93, with Matt Leather No. 63 and then some Matt leather darkened with a bit of matt black, both dry brushed onto it, in patches, leaving a little of the Desert yellow showing through. By the way, the NR building I think you did on Mr. T's Dover Priory, is a work of art, not to mention the Signal box. Having my Yorkshire walls approved by a fellow Yorkie, is high praise indeed!! Many thanks Dave

Additions to the P-way train...MRA's. Look great, but couplings are a bit naff. Still adds to the P-way train, no end. Squeeky wheels, tracked down to one of the Seacow wagons bringing up the rear. It was driving me nuts, so oiled all wheels after the vid. Wish I'd done it before. Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Raf4-Sd_D2Q

Agree Anthony, a modular building's a good idea; build as big as you like. Anything out of the ordinary at the York show, new releases, interesting layouts etc? Dave
-
Killer isn't it! 8) Joking aside, though, you would think somebody would have come up with a ready built one by now. That 4 lane shed that Bachmann did, a while back, is fairly large, so something about that size wouldn't be beyond reason. Dave

Thanks Tase. W.r.t. the Autoballasters, no I don't have them. I was hoping they might do a NR yellow version, but looks like they might not now. Dave

That tamper's looking seriously tasty Terry. Can't wait to see it when it's finished. The Royal Mail 128 looks the business with the weathering, too. Dave

Easter weekend and my little pressy to myself. MRA tipplers....and the P-Way train is now getting serious!! Dave
