Some more locos and units are now in action on the layout. Class 156 (Original Northern)with scratch built underframe equipment, Class 150 (Arriva Wales), Class 70 and a 9-car Pendolino. All work great, sound , lights and Motors, but the Pendo will need bringing in to the 'Works' to be souped up. Alas, I fitted some bespoke bogies and a can/flywheel motor to each driving car, but the bogie is obviously not geared for speed and it crawls slower than a class 60. Wish Id left the original motor bogies in, with traction tyres removed. But, Ive got some spare bogies in mind, which I think will speed things up nicely. Dave

A new addition to Minsterley this week........................................................................TRAINS !!!!!!!!!!!! AT LAST!! After a shaky start, when I first hooked up the Lenz controller to the track and got instant short-circuit and some surgery....to locate the cause...We now have lift-off. Only a test loco not the official opening. 60007 with sound, checking all the track circuits and electro-frog points....good to GO!! Even my handbuilt cv9.25 cross-over, which I thought might give electrical probs, works perfectly. First time Ive had sound on a layout...and it is amazing! When the shortcircuit was happening yesterday,I had visions of having to lift all the points and start again But the 'Divide and conquer' method did the businesss, even though I had to cut some track with a slitting disc and some of the bus wire, to get 2 halves (easily repaired) . The cause of the misery was a bit of 3rd rail, which was touching one of the droppers on one rail, connected to another bit of 3rd rail touching another dropper on other rail...disaster!!. It was removed and has not been heard from since!!! 8) Dave First picture....Green for GO!

I wish I was up to the standard of scratch building a station like this Terry, but sadly it's a Faller kit of Bonn Station...but painted in the Minsterley house colours...station name printed on photopaper and interior lit with warm white LEDS. Never had it in a magazine Jaz, would be fun though..........if it works, that is??

I'll have to give Rails a bell this morning. Im sure they'll have the pensioner's car at least!

Cheers Ken...looks the business now with added lights and building. 2 level affair...similar to Nottingham station. All I have to do now is clean the track and I'll be able to run some trains...quite excited about it, like a kid in a toy shop. Dave

At last the layout, with the exception of the Town area above the stations, is Finished!!! Lighting in Minsterley Station and the Station building installed, this week. As we approach the Witching hour I did a few nightshots to get in the mood. Next week will clean the track and run a test train. Dave

No not joking...haven't tested it yet, so there may be one or two tweaks needed...maybe not? We shall see. Dave
