  2. Maybe he's a bit busy I'M sure he will get back to you he does know the ins and outs of Comet Coaches he was very good friends of the late owner Geoff Brewin.
  3. I noticed more LMS rolling stock on your layout I won on fleebay 5 Stanier corrridor coaches at the week-end to use as through coach sevices that's the trouble when you look through GWR pictorials and think that would look good on my layout. John can I ask where did you obtained that early concrete phone box, the red Hornby jobbie I have is in date period but doesn't look right in a country town.
  4. That's what it looked like between the underside and the tops of the bogie's I thought best to wash them It could have been Hughie Green.
  5. Drop Phil (Mallard) a PM as per his post for any info'. Bob
  6. On the subject of hygiene some very dated RTR coaches arrived one was a bit cruddy so I stripped the whole lot down and wash all the plastic parts I could not believe how clean they came up after their bath. Basingstoke show is not too bad I carry a small man bag there's always Hygienic hand rub, bog roll and paper towels just in case, I'm tempted to carry a de-odourising spray as some of the great unwashed seem to attend nearly every show in the country.
  7. Have a peep at the attached thread Spams mate Dava has tried to be a c0cky d!ck again with me aided by his crony Southport http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/131953-stanier-coaches/ enjoy

  10. Thanks again everyone for the additional information, I have seen some of the Replica coaches on ebay and wondered why the were bidding out at lottery prize money. Thanks Bob
  11. Can't agree more put any weight on those frames and they might collapse he should have asked a professional.
  12. You read right Ian , they have a palace in Bracknell which is fairly local so you get them at the door regular I tells them I'm a Joe Hovis Witness and they soon buqqer off. edit smilley went awol
  13. Just like the old LMS with their Pink Livery.
  14. I don't want adverse comments once the layout starts getting posting you know want some so call members can be like I can stand my ground on GWR but clueless on LMS, good points raised so far :- overall they are not bad for a 40 y.o. model, all thirds which will come from Comet sides if they fit I've done several Collett conversions, new glazing I'm being told Shaw plan is better the SEFC, buffers are a must several have missing one's changing them can improve appearance, coupling will be altered to the smallest on the market a change to metal wheels and rear lamps will be attached. Can anyone advise on how to get them apart does the roof pop off then lever the 8 tabs? as per most Airfix stock and please could anyone tell me what colour is the seat material for the different classes. Thanks to all who have answered it's helped me to have coaches looking something like the prototypes. Thanks Bob

  18. Hi I've purchased some Airfix & Dapol Stanier coaches 4 comps' and 3 Brake 3rds for through coach operations,I'm looking to see if there is anyway of super detailing them to enhance the appearance, I'm constucting a GWR Devon layout and haven't got a clue where to start so would be greatful of some advice apart from binning them working period is 1939-1942 . Thanks Bob
  19. Check to keeper plate is fully screwed in mine fell out as the screws were just push into their holes when I asked Simon Kohler why was this heppening he said there is nothing wrong with the model and that was OK what a burke, he got upset with my reply.
  20. We got 60 out of one with 3 people aboard it was a bit of a squeeze, the company lift home broke down and my work mate said his dad was picking him up did I want a lift as it was 2 hours by pulbic transport of course I said yes till the thing turned up it was a bit wider than the one above, they had good 0-60 speed.
  21. Oh HI I've found out what GDB has chosen for his new set of wheels he's realy gone up market this time. He says it has one added advantage there's no room for his SWMBO so he doesn't have to take her to bl00dy Sainsburys every day.
