  1. When my Victory arrived one crank pin wasn't screwed in far enough and was catching and locking the loco up. Due to the locktite used I couldn't screw it in any further. Chris K couldn't have been more helpful, the loco was duly dispatched and a very short time later it came back in full working order. Brilliant service. A lot of suppliers could learn a thing or to from Minerva
  2. The Allied Wire and Steel version has arrived according to Hattons. Owen
  3. Hi. I hope some one can help. I'm looking for a magazine article that came out in last few years about updating the old Dapol Dock crane kit. Trouble is I can't remember which of the 4 magazines it was in or who wrote it. If any one can I help I would be very grateful. Thanks Owen
  4. Hopefully there may be the NCB one announced by then. (Fingers crossed). Owen
  5. www.roadtransportimages.com/online-shop/cabs They do lots of different Daf cabs and are very nice to make
  6. I've started dismantling a Bachmann 20T Southern brake van to re-spray it. My first one. I've got it mostly apart but how do I get the the hand rails off. I've tried trying to yank them out, but the glue is very strong. Thanks in advance Owen
  7. News on the Port of London Authority Janus. According to a response of Facebook, they are currently on water and should be due mid June. Owen
  8. I am sure there will be Peckett related news. Paul Isles posted the below on the 8th of December in the Peckett thread, most people took it to mean there would be new pecketts annouced in the January announcement and there wasn't. Works.docx Good morning all - time to look ahead to future liveries for the Peckett W4 models. As you all know by now, there are 'early' and 'late' versions, of which we've concentrated on the 'early' variants. I have a long list of W4 locomotives that I have no picture references for or, if I do, they're so grainy that identification is impossible. There are potentially some cracking liveries lurking here; Bristol Gas Co. James Dunlop, United Alkali, Rowlands etc and I wonder if any of you have references, notes, book plates or have collected prints of any of the locos on the attached list please? You can PM if you'd like to remain anonymous to the forum, or post if you're not bothered, but however you respond, there'll be thanks from me chaps. If I don't say so before, Happy Christmas to you all and we look forward to seeing you at the shows next year. Best wishes, Paul. PS: Remember to keep 10:00am on January 8th free for your 'froth' satisfaction :-)
  9. Here's my go. 1.) As others have said, DJ Models, Setting Hire Standards... I think it needs it. 2.) Yes to close coupling but not at the expense of NEM coupling pockets. 3.) Nice to have but not essential. 4.) Interesting to see, not sure if it's necessary, would need to see more. 5.) I never use the factory loads, so could definitely live with out them. Good luck. Owen
  10. Just to say. My loco is back, it was turned around in a very quick time and now runs perfectly. Excellent customer service from Chris. Thanks Owen
  11. Hi. Does any one know how the crank pins are fitted. I have a green sound fitted one that I bought a couple of weeks ago and only got to try it down the club over the weekend and sadly the front left hand site crank pin catches on the cross head guides. Before moaning and sending it back I'd like to have a go at fixing it. The crank pin definitely looks like it sticks out more the right hand side one does. So before I go at it like a bull in a china shop are the crank pins push fit with glue, screwed, resistance fit... Do I need any special tools (Club hammer ???). Any advice would be greatly received. Thanks Owen
  12. Thanks for your replies. Definitely food for thought. Thanks Owen
  13. Let me start by saying I'm not very artisitic or very good with making stuff up. I prefer nonficiton to fiction Up until now I've always modelled what I can see. Its easy, go there and look, look through books or online no real need for imagination But now I'm having a dable with O gauge. I've got an Ixion Hudswell Clarke, a Miverva Victory, a couple of bits of rolling stock and not a lot of space. So I'm think a small shunting layout, I have an idea (care of Carl Arendts website). Again I can copy.. thats the easy bit. But I would like to re-paint some of the rolling stock into house colours, think Bury, Thorn & Sons, for those that know the layout, but have no idea on what colours I should go with or what company name to choose.. Have you ever made something like that up, what did you use for inspiration, did you just find a long defunct company? I look forward to your ideas and inspirition. Thanks owen

    New to O-Gauge

Hi. I'm new to O-gauge having taken the step to move up from OO. I have a Minerva Victory and an Ixion hundswell clark. Both of them are great but they need populating. Can any one recomend any driver and fireman figures? I'm hoping to model something industrial in the 60's. Thanks in advance Owen

  18. I got mine from E-bay. New for a very reasonable price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/railwayrambler/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from= I think I offered somewhere around £70-75 and got the offer accepted. Kind regards Owen

  23. Another no from me sadly, it must be my eyes as it seems to work from my 9yr old daughter. It just made my head hurt. The rest of the magazine looks good though. I like the article on modifying the Coopercraft lorry. Thanks

    New announcement?

If any one has seen my wallet, can you send it back this way. It just ran off in fear. Owen
  25. Sorry no pictures. Mine has arrived safely from Hattons and I am very pleased with it. The finish is very good although the wheels do look a little plasticy in yellow. Nothing that can't be easily resolved. I like the fact the front/rear hand rails have been changed to include lights (nonworking). It ran well on the club layout last night (in the right direction). I'll whip the body off over the weekend to check the flywheel arrangement. But all in all a very nice useable model. Owen
