Zoë came in when I was half way through repairing the glazing on my class 22 so the resultant video is below, in case it is of some help to others trying to repair this little nark.

    Dapol Class 22

Whilst I was half way through, my other half wandered by with a camera, so I've done some filming about how to do it. I shall post a link when it's editted and uploaded. It's important to get the blade at the right angle though. The glue seems to be harder than the plastic, so it could be quite easy to accidentally slice through the body shell by mistake.

    Dapol Class 22

I have just noticed that the cab glazing on one end of mine has fallen back into the cab. I've tried to get into the cab to affect a repair, but it seems that Dapol have been determined to not allow this by using vast amounts of strong glue to hold the cab innards in place. I've done a search online and can find only complaints by others with the same issue, and not a solution. Can anyone help with how to get access to the cabs? If they had used the same glue to fix the windows as is fixing the cab to the body, perhaps they wouldn'ty fall off. I'm close to breaking the bodyshell in trying to get into the cabs. Really Dapol? Was it necessary to ruin an otherwise excellent model like this? EDIT: A very narrow boxcutter blade worked in from the front and eased backwards from each side has eventually freed it. Not for the faint of heart - I nearly ended up stabbing myself twice, and the inside of the body looks a mess. However it hasn't damaged the outside, which is more important. A rubber cement would be a better way to have fixed the cab innards in, so at least they could be realistically removed. I may try refixing with PVA.
  4. Sir Guy Williams in LMR blue was done in a wooden box as a commemorative set a good few years ago(ref: 32-250), though the midland compound set proves that Bachmann aren't against rereleasing an item when it suits.
  5. Got the very last small cabinet from Derby Road Lidl. No sign of larger ones. Assembled quickly, and it looks pretty good (though I had hell of a job drilling into the brick that this 1920s house is made of to fasten it on the wall). A very nice little cabinet, with room enough for an assortment of 18 Bachmann coaches.
  6. I'm going to try the Derby Street Lidl in Bolton today. I have to go into town by car to drop the other half off to give blood, so it's a good excuse as any to park there. I hope they have some left!
  7. I know plenty of women who are into model trains. We even bought my five year old neice a trainset for Christmas because she loves them. There is hope for the future yet!
  8. Carport roof leaking like a seive. Another job added to the long list of things I need to do by the Spring.

Sounds like our cricket pavilion. Must empty the bucket tomorrow!

  9. Bah! Went to my local Lidl only to find that it's shut for extending and refurbishment for the next few months.
  10. Just been in a computer games store. I guess those of dubious personal hygiene hang out in these places when there's no model railway exhibition to go to?
  11. Just finished a cheer-a-thon of five cheerleading films in a row. I have learnt from these that all the hot cheerleaders in California drive VW Beetle convertables.

You know, because you need to know. Like one of them James Bond films, innit?

  13. Just bought two Bachmann shunters wagons and a Horby SPV van. Feeling buyer's remorse now, as I've bought far too much this last month.

  14. I expressed an interest via email, but never heard anything back. I ordered over the telephone as soon as I heard they were available on RMWeb.
  15. I ordered stuff from Hattons, taking advantage of their Christmas sale on Sunday night. Everything arrived safely by Monday night. I specified Yodel delivery, and it certainly worked well.

    Dapol Class 22

I've just received D6318 in blue from Hattons as they were much reduced in price. Currently it is running in as I type (along with the weathered Robinson o4 I bought at the same time). Out of the box this loco has a real weight and presence to it. Runs lovely and doesn't seem to draw a lot of power at all. I haven't tried fitting any of the extra detail yet. It is only the second Dapol locomotive I've ever bought (the other being their old L&Y pug) and it gets top marks from me.
  17. The price reductions could be counter-productive for future models though. I paid £125 for my class 28 some time ago. The result of the current discounting is that I have decided to not buy any Heljan locos at full price and will star waiting for the heavy discounting. I doubt that I will be alone.
  18. Saw The Darkness last night. Met them backstage afterwards and got my shaped 7" picturedisk signed by them all. Their tour bus is amazing too!

      Very rock 'n' roll. :-)

  19. A quick video of mine running in the company of Dapol L&Y liveried pug number 19 (reposted from the news 2-4-2 topic - should the two topics be merged?)
  20. I filmed mine running yesterday. It's just a shame that I don't really have appropriate stock to go with it. I did dust off the only other RTR L&Y liveried locomotive - The Dapol pug number 19 - that I think I would b e right in thinking has thus far appeared on the market?
  21. I did a quick test run of mine. Runs pretty well, negotiating complex trackwork without stalling. It nods ever so slightly as it runs along, but nothing major. Performance improved as it was left to run. Given how fast these sold out, coupled with the quick-selling C class in SECR livery, I wonder whether Bachmann could be tempted to issue a classmate in a similar livery?
  22. Already posted in the news section, but here's a quick video review that I did last night after I got hold of mine for the first time.
  23. Mine arrived yesterday, so I filmed a quick review when I got back from work. It looks a great model, and I look forward to getting it running. On the locomotion website it says there's only 8 left now. This must be their most successful model yet in terms of selling so quickly?
  24. Fence mostly replaced. That was hard work indeed! It does mean that I'm ontrack for garden railway construction early next year.

Barbed wire and electric fence following your luck this year???? Hope it all goes well for you. Good luck.
