  1. Nearly three years from laying track just found an electrofrog point that had yet to have the microswitch for the frog wired up. How could I have missed that?

  2. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-R4604-00-Gauge-Br-Mk1-Comp-Holiday-Coach-NEW-/291269991669?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item43d10b5cf5 Havin' a larf methinks at that price.
  3. Have any other manufacturers done HNRC livery?
  4. I've been waiting for an 07 to finally appear. Given their longevity I was quite surprised when the 05 was announced before the 07. The HNRC liveried one that was in Manchester for a while would be an interesting release. Personally I'd be happy with BR blue TOPS numbered. How much difference is there from the versions that were built for industry?
  5. I found this on Paul Bartlett's site: http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/gwrdeptcoach/h3867DE66#h3867de66 After some searching though, this was the image I saw originally: http://www.railphotoarchive.org/rpc_zoom.php?img=0720024836000
  6. Interestingly, none of those were the picture I remember seeing! Perhaps survivors were more long lived than we thought?
  7. I have seen a photograph of one in the early 1970s with a class 08 in BR blue. Can't remember where the picture was online though.
  8. Bah! I had a southern one on order for Christmas for my Father. I guess he'll have to push his wagons around by hand until the new year then.
  9. Just replaced the innards of my shed computer out of spares. If I had known this motherboard and processor were so fast I'd have done this months ago.

  10. Perhaps Locomotion models might have helped the way it looks if they had been able to offer just the coaches at a discounted rate to those who had paid full price for the compound from them.
  11. Just bought a Heljan Ribble Cement class 17 at a price I couldn't refuse. After a few minor repairs to reattach the buffers it is running in the sunshine with some Bachmann Presflos.

  12. WH Smiths in the centre of Bolton still have a single Castle as of lunchtime today.
  13. Asda at Astley Bridge in Bolton had a single Caste a few days ago which I duly bought. Either they are proving very popular, or the number they are stocking has dropped. I have put six of the GBL locos on a high shelf in my new conservatory above the door.. From the distance that they get viewed from they actually look quite good and have been mistaken for real locomotives.
  14. Still looking forward to these. Despite price increases, I still have an urge to buy the full set in SECR livery. Tim at Arcadia, if you're reading this, put me down for the full set in SECR livery!
  15. Dapol's venture into RTR O gauge has been the difference between my Father continuing to play with Hornby Dublo 3 rail, and starting to model in O gauge. I for one am looking forward to the Terrier turning up, as for the money it is likely to be exceptional value for people like my Father who would not build a kit and would baulk at the higher prices of other manufacturers. My only dilemma is whether they will be in the shops in time to buy him one for Christmas. What controller will he need for these? Will a Gaugemaster Series E be enough or not?
  16. As a thought, wasn't the factory/ies making these in the Russian federation, meaning that supplies could start to get harder to come by?
  17. Any news or hints on what future liveries Hornby are planning? Supply issues seem to have been sorted out and all three liveries are turning up again in shops, albeit at a higher price than when they were first released. Still hoping for an MSC version!
  18. There were still two Jinties at the Asda in Astley Bridge in Bolton when I popped in there earlier today.. No sign of the Castle yet though. What's the next loco planned after the Castle? I'm particularly interested in the model of Locomotion if it's still in the list of planned releases.
  19. You can read what you like into it, but that wasn't what I meant. I paid in full because I was in a position to, and it makes the delivery of the model in the future a nice surprise without having to worry then about finding the money. It just happened to suit me, and I get free postage too.
  20. Well, I have supported the project by paying the full price up front for the GNR liveried version. Noticed today though that my card has yet to be debited.
  21. Just bought today the GNR liveried version. Paid in full because I'm nice, and it'll make it all the nicer when it arrives late this year/early next year. If the NRM has exclusivity over this model in the same way that they did for the prototype DELTIC, does this mean no chance for other stablemates without renumbering ourselves?
  22. Back online after having had to rebuild this computer. All thanks to a faulty CPU fan. On the plus side, my spare processor turned out to be 25% faster clock speed.

  23. I bought the SECR liveried one from Arcadia on Saturday, and it wasn't the last one he had in that livery. I also saw the Southern liveried varient (didn't look for the BR one, but that didn't mean that he didn't have any). Also took the opportunity to preorder the E4 in LBSCR umber, as I suspect that these will prove as popular as the original SECR liveried release of the C class.
  24. Just caught the magic smoke escaping from my Bachmann N class. Need to source a replacement motor for it.

Seems to be common with that model. I've got the limited box set of 2 and both had defective motors that went poof.

It's good to catch, otherwise it gets everywhere

  25. I'm wondering whether the wagons might be small enough to fit on something like the Weltrol as a load?
