  1. 37427 Bonty Bermo heads a Manchester to Cardiff service past the old station cafe. 47555 The Commonwealth Spirit is in charge of the Crewe bound TPO 60020 is just over a year old as it leads a Midlands bound Steel service This Class 108 still displays the “Valley’s Lines” Red Dragon which Cardiff Canton applied to a lot of its trains in the late 1980’s The old and the new. With the Class 158’s now entering squadron service. Which means that the Class 108 is on borrowed time. 47712 Lady Diana Spencer heads a Hereford bound train as 37796 passes with loaded household coal bound for export to Ireland via Merseyside 37796’s progress is spoilt by the Wyvern Road Signaller
  2. When I first started to build Wyvern Road 5 years ago, my main aim was to build a layout that I could run my end of the HST era stock on. So most of my trains were modelled to capture the last few years of this period in time. However I did have a collection of stock based in the sectorisation era, which I could run occasionally and would still look in keeping with the layout. This means that I also had to have a separate collection of vehicles so when a change of era was done the layout looked in keeping with the era. A couple of months back I brought a Bachmann Class 158 in the original Provincial “Express” livery. This was the last train that I needed so I could run WR around the Hereford area with suitable stock. Welcome to Wyvern Road 1990 37711 Tremorfra Steelworks waits in the UP Loop for the Road with a loaded Scrap train 50031 Hood works the Bristol East Yard to Bescot Engineers train. 50031 was displaced from Old Oak Common when the Paddington NSE loco hauled services were replaced by Class 47/4s & 47/7s. The loco was placed in the Western Region’s DCWA Engineers Pool. 56108 heads back towards South Wales with a lengthy rake of HEA wagons A Paddington bound HST restarts from its station stop. The HST accelerates into the journey, it will be a little over 3 hours before it arrives at the Capital. 47600 heads a Speedlink service, these services are on borrowed time as the axe for Speedlink is not far away A Birmingham New Street service passes the closed level crossing
  3. Ran some trains on Sunday Evening, these were the last two of the day.
  4. Had a friend from work visit WR this morning, he brought a rake of Tesco Containers which looked and ran very well (I didn’t want him to take them back).
  5. Likewise not wanting to argue in public. But I have known Steve for a good 10 years plus, and always has seemed trustworthy and truthful. Have ordered countless items from him and his team in the past and always get good service. Very proud of our local model shop.
  6. The coaches a a mix of BR Mk1 coaches with x4 Metcam Pullmans. Remember seeing a similar rake to this used by Steam Specials based at Tyesley in the 1990’s.
  7. i finally got a model of 7819 Hinton Manor. But it wasn’t plain sailing as I ordered it from my local shop (Model Railway Solutions), when announced. I was eagerly waiting a call from MRS, but when I did it was to say that they had ordered x3 GWR Manors but had been sent x3 BR Black examples (which they hadn’t ordered). So they advised Accurascale of their error and after x2 weeks of waiting for a reply. They were told that all GWR Sound Manors were sold out and they would not be getting any more. So MRS were good enough to find me another model on the internet, which I bought (hence the video above). Funnily enough Accurascale did get some more Sound Manors (Possibly a Warehouse Find). But by then I had got mine. The model is beautiful and the best RTR Steam Loco (that I have seen). But as for Accurascale I do find it confusing that they say that they are out of stock and won’t be getting any more. Only to get more in the following week. Maybe time to ditch the Abacus Stock system and get a computerised system.
  8. I have brought my first Accurascale loco
  9. The Ticket Office Clerk likes his Rally Cars.
  10. Really please how this is looking, now we have some population. Think I could say that this is complete now and enjoy running some trains over the festive period.
  11. A little video from last night (and I mean little)
  12. Great to catch up with you Scott. Thanks David
  13. Hi Bill, I always find your layouts very inspirational, so I just can’t wait to see how you get on with this one. Great back story. Like the double line going to single (very Cornish).
  14. The road surface is painted MDF along with Scale Model Scenery Pavement Laser Cut MDF Sections (LX217-OO for the straights and LX218-OO for the 90 degree corners) The Road surface is painted with Vallejo Air 71.049 Sea Grey, I also when wet dab in a few drops of 71.315 Tire Black in the central part of each lane (just to add a weathered down and used look). For the Road markings I mask out the lines and dab 70.989 Sky Grey with a cotton wool Make Up Stick and with the stick wipe off the majority of the paint (gives it a faded look). For the pavements I use 71.312 Medium Grey (which although it says medium grey there is a little bit of beige colour in 71.312 so good for concrete look). I also add in a couple of the Scale Model Scenery Drains. Hope this helps. If you have anymore questions just ask
  15. I have found a nice spot to video my model trains
  16. Think that I will need some people soon
  17. A bit more progress tonight, the next job is to paint the wood light blue (like behind the Steel Works), then we will be on the right track.
  18. I am proceeding (at my usual snail’s pace) with area where the Station scenic break is. The pedestrian crossing is coming along nicely, although there are certain lines and flashes (that are on a current crossing), I have not included as I want to be able to backdate the layout to 1990 (when I fancy running my stock from that era).
  19. The good thing about our hobby is that you can pick it up or leave it depending on life events and your mood. I am sure that you will get back into it when the time is right.
