Took this picture to my local guys my recent progress, now I have started the scenery in the curve. Quite impressed with the picture so I thought that I would share it with you folk as well. Feel with the scenery that I am progressing at a steady pace. I started WR in the autumn of 2018, would be nice if I could have a big push and get the layout in a semi completed state for its 5th birthday (those that know me will be saying “Dream on”).

Thoroughly enjoyed reading about how you did all the greenery on the layout in the latest two editions of BRM. Great read with lots of advice and tips. Thank you.

Unfortunately Steve doesn’t do rmweb, hence me posting the video on my layout page. Steve is part of a group of modellers who built Sydney Gardens and Chilcompton, which have been on the exhibition circuit for the last few years (Sydney Gardens will be up for sale later in the year, anyone interested send me a pm and I will pass on your details). Steve also built a steam era layout called Seend, a modern day model of Westbury Cement and when I first knew him he had a layout called South Devon Cliffs which was a section of the Dawlish Seawall (think it was featured in ModelRail about 15 years ago).

Checked in on my friend Steve Jones, he is building a model of Fairwood Junction (this is where the Westbury avoider joins the lines to Westbury station and yards). He started the layout in October and has progressed rather well in that time.

Managed to finish the ground cover in the foreground (put a few more tufts in the complete the scene) this is where I envisaged the old yard used to be (now only the single siding remains). I have to thank David Lund as I have used the Martin Welberg Scenic Mats and Tufts as recommended by him on his layout. The completion of this area gives me a kick to carry on around the curve towards the town.

A lovely layout, always partial to a China Clay setting. Hope you have a great maiden exhibition (don’t forget to take some photos for all us who can’t attend). -

Some excellent progress Steve, layout is coming on so well. Love the Steelworks at one end, what a good use of your space. Well done.

With a heavy heart I have been sorting out my Dad’s phone as he passed away last Weekend. I found some pictures of Porth Merryn that he took when he got his Heljan GWR Railcar. He loved operation the layout (his little slice of Cornwall).

Very sad to tell you folks that my Dad passed away in the early hour this morning at the age of 89. Dad has been on a 50 year journey with me of a train set through to model railway. We have experienced some great times together on the rail network and some fantastic model railway exhibition weekends over the years. I am sure going to miss him. Operating his layout Porth Merryn (built by Andy P, of this parish).

The small of freshly baked cookies fill the air as a London Midland 170 on a New Street to Hereford services rattles past. 71000 Duke of Gloucester is moved from Southall to Tyesley. 70006 heads a Wentlog to Crewe Intermodal An EWS liveried 66 with a small rake of Autobalesters. On New Year’s Day the Preservation Group had a running day around the remains of the Steelworks lines.

A little project for the Xmas period was to partially repaint my Metals Sector BAA’s so they matched my Cavalex BLA Coil wagons. Just have to TCut out the sector markings and a couple of Railfreight logos on the BLA’s, then they will be of for Weathering.
