  1. . You missed out the Class 70 DC Electric locos (which OO manufacturers also have). .
  2. . Accurascale have shown a preference for wagons, so a top class BR 16 ton mineral wagon and ventilated van would sell in large numbers, even with relatively few livery variations. .
  3. . Obviously Rapido are worried about the pricing level, well a £200-plus 009 loco being announced yesterday should alleviate some of the worries. Also the "worry" over the few D-1s that lasted into BR days doesn't seem to concern OO WORKS with their choice of Southern subjects. The ideal is a loco whose life spreads from 1900 ( + / - ) up to the BR era. The D-1s look good ("cute" if you like) and were useful locos - definitely another loco to be seriously looked at. Getting back to the E-1s - they are needed as suitable Southern 0-6-0Ts are few and far between, I am certainly hoping for 5 versions as a minimum. .
  4. . Two suppliers have put up prices, £234.99 (discounted to £199 plus pence) for the plain version, £334.99 (discounted to £284 plus pence) for the sound version. I am sure more retailers will be putting their prices up shortly. .

  6. . With "my" interests, I would favour British railways mainline and pre-WW1 LBSC railway (to go with the 4- and 6-wheel coaches and whatever wagons are available). Obviously a Southern Railway green one would be popular with the large numbers of SR fans, and at least one I.O.W. one). Assuming I am a "perfect" exemplar ! (which obviously I am not) that is a minimum of 4 variants, with possibly a few more livery samples. "We" can't make any sort of educated decisions on actual numbers of variants/liveries unless we know the cost implications of each. IF an all singing and dancing version only costs an extra £10, then I think everyone here (except a few) would be happy, if it means an extra £30-£40 I would say yes, but I think that the number of total sales would be less. I think that the evidence of recent smaller scale deliveries has been that quality attracts customers. At present "we" are having a bit of a golden age because we seem to have plenty of pensioners who are relatively numerous and have spare money, as the numbers reduce and inflation returns (as is predicted) spending on model railways will reduce - produce the models now there is a market. .

  9. . I've been looking into the 4-DD EMUs, I think that KR are being very brave/bold in thinking about producing these. The curved upper windows are going to be a challenge to mould with their separate side windows, and the glazing will be equally challenging. The roof under-cut to allow for straight doors is also going to be fun. Again, good luck to KR and make a profit. .
  10. . I can't agree, as the 4-COR had lots of running in single, double and triple plain formations from the late 30's through to the 70's. Anyway, we are getting side tracked by anti-EMU people - back to KR and the 4-DD. Good luck and hope it sells well. .

  12. . Good luck to them, however it is a very weird choice as there were only 2 of them ! Although I am very biased, I would have gone for a 4-COR, used on the Western and central divisions of the Southern, pre-war Southern through to BR Blue. Oh, and masses of character. Still, as I said, good luck to them. .

I see from the e-mail I got notifying me of the despatch of my MDO's and MDV's that Accurascale's UK base is situated on the old Merton Priory site, quite near one of the old Tri-Ang factories and near the Wimbledon-West Croydon line (now Tramlink) and dismantled MertonPark to Tooting line. I hope that inspires Accurascale to do something associated with the Wimbledon-West Croydon line ? One lives in hope. .
  15. . Whilst working/resting on my computer I usually have a microsoft "free" solataire game open, for when I am waiting, or bored. This originally came "free", but after a while every 20 games or so a 30 second pop-up advert would appear and annoy me. Later again, it had loud music which one had to mute to stop anyone on the ground floor of my house being annoyed. Surely anyone with half a brain would have worked out after the first 20 or so noisy interruptions that I wasn't interested, but still they continue (unless I pay to have them stopped ! ) So, what am I meant to make of Microsoft and their attempts at extortion ? Why do you think that I would think kindly on a company that wanted to annoy me into paying them money ? Now, when it comes to these pop-ups that will be (?) fully implemented on this site, what do you think I will feel towards those people who advertise using them ? If it is a company that I have no interest in using, then I'll just get annoyed with the site. If it is a model railway associated company then I will just get annoyed and, probably, be less likely to use them. Why would you buy from a company which is helping to make you annoyed ? I do not understand the logic of these pop-up annoyances. .

  20. . Yes, and only showing the malachite green Southern Railway version in stock, meaning that the "pretty version" hasn't sold as well as the work-a-day British Railways one. An interesting result. .
  21. . Hornby Dublo Barnstable was my first loco ! Followed by a Stanier 8F and Standard Class 4MT 2-6-4T - all superb. ( I wonder if we could convince Hornby to do a "metal" EMU . . ) .
  22. . On the thread discussing the Bachmann 009 Quarry Hunslets it has been claimed that neither the open, or closed cab versions would come with a crew figure (or pair of figures). Will you consider doing one/some ? .

  24. . In the 70's and early 80's the peak services were normally 4-EPB to Caterham, and 2 + 4 EPB to Tattenham Corner. Every so often the units were the wrong way around with much faffing around at East Croydon, or most likely Purley. Equally fun was the fact that in the Tattenham corner trains tended to run 2 or 3 minutes early so as to ensure that they didn't hold up the Caterham portion. Lots of oddities over the years, including a 2 x 4-EPB going to Tattenham Corner (meaning double stops at, at least Reedham (at least twice)). Also, occasionally, only a 2-EPB to Tattenham Corner in peak hours.
  25. . What is the most numerous wagon on BR era layouts ? I would guess from exhibition layouts that it is the BR 16 ton mineral. The existing Bachmann model is long overdue for replacement. A good selection of variants and numbers would see many, many sold. Oh, and my "wouldn't it be nice" choices ? 4-COR and 4-SUB, with a D1 4-4-0, or an E1 4-4-0, (or if you want to annoy Hornby) an L1 4-4-0. Anyway, good luck with whatever you choose. .
