  1. FYI Royal Mail in the lead up to Christmas delivers seven days a week and has done so for more years than I care to remember. The only difference is that Sunday deliveries didn't start until December.
  2. Did they have any fillings left at the end of their journey?
  3. I'm sure there's a few ER's able to help you out with the falling down water.
  4. I wouldn't like to meet them on a dark night.
  5. Link to another Lima set. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265372181168?_trkparms=amclksrc
  6. Although I can get the threads I've posted in since the activity streams went down I can see more threads in the 'Content I follow' even if I haven't recently posted on those threads. If you're looking for a particular thread its best to look in forums.
  7. It was explained to me why the British Legion continue to use a pin to secure poppies and it is quite logical but I can't remember what it was. However I'm quite happy to drop a few more coins* in the tin for a replacement. This year though I picked the key ring poppy, its plastic and just clips onto the D ring on the pocket of my gilet. *I paid by cash before I realised that you can contribute by plastic.
  8. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis was giving it all this morning but a combination of Nurofen, moving about and a long warm soak in the bath soon sent him on his way. Basildon isn't visible from Basildon even at nearly midday. My zimmer frame has wheel on each corner. It's easy to get to the front, everyone hops out of the way, holding the foot that I've just run over😉.
  9. Preferable to the only other alternative, dancing on the end of a rope. Many were children the youngest being 9 years old.
  10. Then there was the Shoreham crash in 2015. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_Shoreham_Airshow_crash
  11. Doesn't look good at all. The P63 pilot broke away from a formation of three according to some reports. https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/reports-of-plane-crash-during-air-show-at-dallas-executive-airport/3123720/
  12. Evening all from Estuary-Land. The bread pudding has now gone and I can assure you that it was delicious. I shared it out with a few friends but I had to eat half of it myself. In fact there was too much mix for the oven dish so what was left over is in the freezer. I don't know if you can freeze bread pudding dough, I'll find out when I defrost it.
  13. The GER achieved that with relatively small 0-6-0T's (J69's). They were very successful as well even pulling loaded trains up Bethnal Green bank from a standing start
  14. One and the same aircraft. A few years after it was used as a camera ship in the film it was restored to wartime condition and IIRC is now in Germany.
  15. If you want giant slugs Barbados is the place, I holidayed there way back in 1979. They were up to a foot long and about three inches in diameter. The hotel where I stayed had an enormous garden and the rooms were actually cabins spread through the garden. The actual hotel part had only about six rooms, the dining area and reception. What attracted the slugs was the air conditioning, the rooms/cabins were nice and cool.
  16. Have no fear, I've only spotted one clue, or so I thought but I was wrong. My problem is that I have a terrible memory for names and there are references back to incidents in the previous two novels so its better to read all three back to back. Some time ago I mentioned another favourite novelist of mine, Carl Hiaasen and some ER's were tempted to give him a try it would be interesting to get an opinion.
  17. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Not done much at all today except read the novel I purchased the other day, (The bullet that missed by Richard Osman). I'm now on the last lap but I've still got no idea as to who the villain is. Microwave has just pinged so its time for dinner.
  18. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Usual noises from Arthur Itis this morning but he didn't hang around once I started moving around. The other day I stopped to chat to a retired soldier on a British Legion poppy stand. He was wearing three rows of medals, his own on the left and his grandfathers (WW2+Korea) and great-grandfathers (WW1) on the right. Also he himself told me he regularly takes aid to the Ukraine where Putin's conscripts are surrendering in droves without having fired a shot and some have even volunteered to join the Ukrainian forces. This is probably why the Russians have had to withdraw from the south of the country.
