  1. Probably, as I never recall it being used and don't know of any op who reported the moves to TOPS Private co's probably have their own data management system anyway the only leftover from BR is the numbering.
  2. DR Meant reportable to TOPs, not that I ever recall it happening as an op. that said movements were probably recorded at the operating base for hours, mileage etc for maintenance purposes. DX was not reportable although few machines were as I recall, I think the GP TRAMM's were DX at first as was some of the last small machines (VDM800U which was at Taunton then Plymouth) Later when I had access to tops for a while was never able to find OTP on the system.
  3. Dave Nicholson as I recall before ZTC days. DLT, Didn't you build one for "Jock" many years ago? I bought the last Lyn kit from him after the intended buyer fell through. Had the pleasure of seeing Lyd last week in passing.
  4. I'm sure the London Underground modellers would like that variant
  5. That's a simple and effective marketing idea. Perhaps the HOm guy can find them on the web second hand and re bogie them later?

  12. Wasn't Nutall's the contractor? I'm sure it's in a book about them, got one very poor shot of the Ruston somewhere.
  13. Few years ago observed narrow gauge tunnelling under the Exmouth Line and river EXE for a gas (I think) main. Saw one Clayton loco and a personal carrier. Devon County Council also had a fleet of 6 Kerr Stuart Wren's at their Wilmminstone Quarry near Tavistock.

  20. Frog = Common Crossing being common to switches and diamond crossing. The latter also has an Obtuse Crossing (Referred to as a K crossing on RMWeb) Common crossing consist of a point and splice rail as well as two wing rails when not of the cast type (Semi welded also existed) as well as all the hardware and fastenings to hold them together and to the timbering.
  21. May also have short lengths of flat bottom instead of the bullhead.
  22. Probably is no most signed traction. When I started driving (early 90's) class 150 was the basic traction with conversion to 153, 158 & 159 latterly followed by 143. Much later 142 then later still 253 and 57
