  1. Fair comment, something wasn't gone into as trainman D. That said had to ride in brakevan in rear (Escort vehicle ) once for dangerous goods.
  2. Grey = unfitted no brakes Bauxite = fitted automatic vacuum brakes Yes to both, can be mixed however the fitted portion should be coupled together and immediately behind the locomotive to give maximum brake force. Any unfitted vehicles to the rear with a brake van (can be fitted unfitted or piped) behind with a guard to apply hand brake just in case.

    Kibri

I'm certain the Kibri kits are not motorised ( I have a few unbuilt). The motorised version is by Viessmann (Who may have used the Kibri kit) This model is powered on DCC I don't own one of these. Kev S
  4. Nice thought but I can't fit a 2+8 in my drive or get it around the narrow country lanes, don't know what the neighbours would think either. Probably wouldn't get away with taking bus home without an operators licence for the premises. Neither do I live in a city where public transport is readily available throughout the daytime, it doesn't work well for shifts whatever the business.
  5. These people always forget one group. Those who work on public transport, driving the first or last whatever cannot use it. A recent enquiry about parking at a local rail station with the council I was informed that the Park & Ride isn't for rail users except for 25 spaces.

  7. A site on wagons (Related to the coach one) states the Somerton one as being of Chas Robert maker. Salt and the atmosphere have taken their toll on this one though as stated.
  8. Swap 5 for a yellow disc. One exiting the cattle dock ( in addition to the loco you mention).
  9. Nicely done but steel keys should really only be inserted at start to a 3rd, taking another 3rd for maintenance, when centred they are to worn. Wooden keys for check rail and the like. Rather than include fixing screws maybe a centre point to make a hole and insert some square plasticard? OK so perhaps defeating the one stop solution but if you're after appearance?
  10. London Underground have had them for years and I even have one in my garage (WR5)
  11. Certainly of the opinion abandoned as have been in position for ages and quite a distance from the sheds, which are undergoing refurbishment for sleeper trains. A quick check go google maps / earth shows fuel tanks of a more modern nature nearer the depot. The 100 tonnes don't have any bunds so doubt compliant with current practices and same view shows on isolated track as well.
  12. At Exeter we have 2 votes. One by the visiting public and another by the exhibitors. On a couple of occasions one layout has won both, first being Abbey Road. Kev S
  13. With all the 3rd (4th) rail stuff these days how about something in a shoe box?
  14. Dale, Strangely the crossover is 40 MPH. Similarly at Newton Abbot the X-overs are 40 and wrong direction moves are 40 so there should be no mistake there either. U & D Mains only at NA are 60. Kev
  15. Depot protection GPL's still have the old Red/ white or 2 white format (some areas)
  16. In my local factory (Whiteways of Whimple)Apples arrived by road tractor / trailer from local fields. Left in open pallet trucks for domestic or vans for export. So I was informed by an employee as was at school at the time. Kev S
  17. Bridgewater (Somerset) shied bottled water. Taunton cider was a fairly modern (1990's) with it's own Unimog shunter, I tried to buy after the factory closed but was already sold on.
  18. Not Jeremy from this parish, with his old landy converted to road / rail?

    egg 16

Interested in owning a model NGG16 Garratt. Long shot but never know my luck. Title should of course read NGG not egg, auto (in)correct. Sorry for any confusion.
