  1. Llandecwyn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Llandecwyn_railway_station Tygwyn https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tygwyn_railway_station To name but two between Porthmadog & Harlech alone without venturing further along the Cambrian
  2. As the bogies for wagons are Hudson's standard one wonders if these will be used for a couple of Hudson based coaches

This has a couple of TV series from Ireland plus other Irish railway films https://www.youtube.com/user/Twinkster79
  4. In Leeds as mentioned an example is the line from Halton to Temple Newsham, after Halton there is no population. Route 22, double track all the way. The Middleton route, not to be confused with the Middleton Railway, ran next to the railway for a stretch before heading into a private right of way through the woods. The line of which can still be traced. Double track forming a big loop back to Leeds by way of Belle isle. Rothwell is an interesting system operated by Leeds on behalf of West Riding. From the junction by the jaw bones it was single track with passing places. The tram killed the passenger train on the railway which operated from Robinhood through Rothwell to Leeds. Trains only ran for 4 months in 1904, the odd excursion to the coast ran until the line closed in the 60's.
  5. There are quite a few photos of the era in the 5 Martin Bairstow Irish railway books. I think there seems to be many books about the various railways of Ireland and locomotives yet there seems to be a gap in the books as I think that the diesel locomotives seem to be ignored. Quite a few have uploaded videos onto YouTube, over the past few days I've seen some of the RTE films featuring abandoned lines, many have clips from the era you are interested in.
  6. Benelux seems to be neglected. I have had holidays to Netherlands and Belgium. There are many interesting preserved lines in both countries. For those who are interested in the UK there are many items with connection to the UK, helps you then get into the local railway. SSN at Rotterdam is an old style depot, well worth a look. Utrecht museum is a must. The new one in Brussels is different. I can easily spend a few hours on midi station in Brussels taking many photos of the locomotive hauled trains. Many of my European trips entails a day in Belgium each way. The only downside is the vast selection of beers available in Belgium, even found the west side of Netherlands to have many beers like Belgium. There is a windmill just into Belgium from Roosendal in Netherlands with a 2' railway and a very good bar - Belgian beer food and steam locomotives!
  7. Many of the request halts on the Cambrian coast are only one vehicle length and the guard controlls which door is open for getting on or off. The smallest fully featured station is Damens on the Worth Valley has a building and signal box controlling the level crossing for a single coach length platform.
  8. On many of my locomotives I have tweaked the acceleration and deceleration rates as many seem to take off like a certain Yousain Bolt.
  9. I think you will find that the only none latching one is F2 normally used for horn/whistle in sound projects. F0 is standard for directional illumination
  10. If you have ever seen the plumbing on a Sentinel you'd be amazed as most pipes have about 6 bends in each run. Someone was going to fit one with a straight run until it was pointed out that needed to avoid some control or other pipe so needed to add an ohmega type bend. The Middleton one the boiler and engine are in, just got some more piping to finish! We had the engine connected to the air line and it was running on 100 PSI rather than the much higher as supplied by the boiler. When back in traffic Paul can get some sounds.
  11. A couple of existing locomotives could be given repaint Class 55 in two tone green no yellow end no nameplate larger logo where the name goes. Class 47 in 1980's GWR commemorative livery. 500 - I have photos of this in Sheffield on the old Harwich boat train.

We are on the move again. The current site has an internal server error but the new server can be found at http://www.leedsengine.info.temporary-domain.com/leeds/default.asp The main name will function soon. Baz There are a few comments about the projectors from Kaylee on the film page. They became part of the Rank group and supplied most of the cinemas. Barnbow, we have a few tanks etc in the gallery along with a few comments. Dad started out as a draughtsman there with Bill Black.
  14. The thought of Masham being trains consisting of only a couple of carriages would appeal ideal for most modellers. An idea might be the inclusion of grain wagons and box wagons for the finished beer from the brewery. Also coal in for the town and brewery. Sheep and cattle trains. I bet it could also be run as a hypothetical 1970's blue era slightly reduced goods, DMU passenger and stretching truth a train bringing traction engines to the annual Masham rally. Extra passenger trains could be run for the Masham agricultural show. It's your toy so you can run whatever you want and when you want. Hunts and footballers or V1 tanks for LNER days. BTP 4-4-0T in NER. Check Ken Hoole book on NER sheds for ideas.
  15. Spotted that Foxfield and Gloc Warwickshire both had to cancel Santa yesterday due to snow. Sorry to hear you had to cancel, but if staff and public are all safely tucked up at home its much better than endangering people. Much discussion had been made on Saturday just in case Leeds suffered heavy snow fall. Middleton Park halt had a dusting during the day but at the Middleton we ran every train (pre booked) and full. A few years ago when there was heavy snow we were the only Yorkshire line to not cancel any Santas, it helps as the main station is next to the M621.
  16. The hunting issue giving a slightly jerky ride is often caused by the use of outside cylinders. NER 1310 H class isimilar to the Y7 is a nice ride. Just need vacuum or air brake control the train brake Steam and diesel four wheel locomotives are still used at Middleton
  17. I was surprised to see that other than on the LM 139 units when I was in the WM area the only time I had my ticket checked were on the ones operated by Chiltern. LM staff seem to open doors, close doors and hide in the rear cab.

Flickering fire glow, didn't Triang do that in the 1960's? Think I will get one, but which one?
  19. Just like those of us who have owned classic cars for a number of years when you have decided to move them on wards it's always good to find a new custodian for the next few years to appreciate them.
  20. I found the steam loco on it's side a challenge to get a reasonable photograph of due to the limitations of the illumination If like me you are also interested in motor cars I'd suggest a joint ticket with the Schlumpf (French National Auto Museum) also located in the city. I spent a full day in each on all of the times I have been. There are a few Bugatti cars in the museum!

  22. How feasible would it be to design a chassis for a 350hp 0-6-0DE that could take the different body variations of the classes 08/09/10/11/12 & (13?). Obviously the wheels would need to be changed to suit for the one with Boxpox spokes. There are a few locomotives as mentioned by others that have not been made in ready to run such as the early and later designed Hudswell Clarke 0-6-0DM D2500-9 & 2510-9 which could give some industrial as well as BR liveries. Similarly the Yorkshire Engine 0-4-0DH 02 could easily find homes on small and large layouts, this used to be available as a kit from DJH. Sorry Charlie for the many ideas.
  23. Interesting concept from India, there are five places as per the article below who decided to build a station rather than waiting for Indian Railways! Might be an idea for some in the UK, comments keep getting made about Elland being one of the largest towns in Yorkshire with a railway but no station. https://www.thebetterindia.com/121688/railway-stations-built-by-residents/
  24. I always enjoy Wakefield, for some time in the 1980's I used to be a member before joining Hull when I was at university! Membership lapsed due to finding beer and travelling to railways in many countries. To tick three boxes when I have been to Darjeeling NG steam, curry meal on train along with beers! Most years I managed to visit and remember Unity Hall, QEGS and Thornes Park. This year we confused the public as they were seeing a trade stand looking rather like an extra layout! Interesting concept from us who often operate 305mm:1' scale at Middleton railway doing things at 1:76.
