  1. Free to a good home. Following on from my May travels to Kosovo Macedonia and Albania I have a pair of Macedonia railway tickets and one from Albania. I realise there are those who like to get tickets from different countries so rather than bin these PM me if you are interested. I will then advise where to send me a self addressed stamped envelope. Photo of the trio of tickets.
  2. Presumably the sound fitted one will have a sugar cube under the board.
  3. The Sentinel railcar would be great for many modellers. It's ideal for all from small to large layouts.
  4. I subscribe to the Eisenbahn Romantik YouTube channel and the quantity and quality of model and real trains are phenomenal. The majority of the time we can watch and get the gist of what is being said but as I have fairly basic understanding of the German language there are many words that I hear and get others that are common to the programmes. Heizung (heater) is often used for fireman.
  5. This is an interesting model railway in Switzerland, half an hour of Eisenbahn Romantik film.
  6. The Potts clock is now telling the time correctly not just twice a day. I'll be wandering around tomorrow and riding the train on Sunday. Fine weather planned for the weekend in Leeds, come along to see models and live steam action.
  7. Many other colonial railway such as India also had similar design of vehicles.

    Albania

Had a local guide in Tirana, she explained that until 1990 the country only had 60 cars and they were all for the regime.

    Albania

If anyone has edit access to Wikipedia feel free to add the above time table.
  10. The Bachmann Next 18 chip has a Zimo logo in the box, has anyone identified which model it is? Just wondering if the price of the Zimo reflecting the production quantity needed to also do the Bachmann?

    Macedonia

I suggested to someone to Photoshop and flip it as it would then look like a UK half cab.

    Macedonia

The Macedonian half of the through train from Pristina (Kosovo) to Skopje (Macedonia) formed of a solitary 661. MZ are still using the JZ numbers and classes. Chinese built modern half cab red double deck buses "Citymaster" in Skopje next to the Marble Arch (celebrates 20 years of independance). Kosovo

2-6-2 JZ 01 steam loco outside Kosovo Poljie station One of the ex NSB NoHAB Di3 locos on tankers 007 Various locos on shed NoHAB on shed with another in the background Ideal international model train? This is the daily train from Pristina (capital of Kosovo) to Skopje (capital of Macedonia), this connected with a single 661 and coach at the border. Who says we need to run long trains? One of the internal service trains consisted of 2 coaches a van and a locomotive. Shed is walking distance from Kosovo Poljie (about 5 miles from Pristina) and this used to be on the through route to Greece from Austria prior to the conflict.
  15. BR one now at home, first impression is a very good model.

    Albania

Tomorrow I will hopefully be traveling on the Albanian railway. This former communist closed country has fairly recently opened up for tourism. See YouTube video. Photos to follow when I'm home.
  17. The railway system seems to still have quite a few of the old Yugoslav items of rolling stock. The train from Kosovo was formed of a single coach and a 661, today the train on the line that used to go to Ohrid before being changed to standard from 2 foot gauge was also the same! Had a trip in one of the 4 Chinese 3 car articulated diesel rail cars the other day. Photos like kosovo to follow when I'm home.

    Kosovo

Just had a few days in this newish nation. The railway is a shadow of it's former Yugoslav life as the through train's no longer exist. Only 2 routes Pristina to Pugë Pristina to Skopje Macedonia Photos will be added when home. They run NOHAB and ex Yugoslav 661 locomotives Edit to correct auto correct!
  19. Manning Wardle also supplied quite a few of the locomotives see the search on my Leeds Engine site.
  20. As the new location is not far from the venue for the Shipley model railway exhibition might it be an idea to open on the Sunday as with enough people visiting it could probably be financially worth doing. Good luck, the wheels have gone through a full rotation becoming part of the JA Diecast empire. Working in Cottingley canal road was a bit awkward to call in on the way home. I look forward to visiting soon especially when the Webb Coal Tank arrives!
  21. BBC news coverage from this morning already onto YouTube - not by myself.
  22. Who is getting up early to see her tomorrow then?
  23. York is always one of my favourite shows. I'll be there on Sunday wearing my Middleton Railway fleece jacket and if I have any left I'll be carrying copies of the 2017 time table so ask me for one alternatively see the website in my signature.
  24. Time progresses at Middleton Railway as you can take a look at the major new exhibit being installed in the engine house. The Potts (of Leeds) station clock originally at Llandudno Junction is now hanging from the southern most roof beam. Come and see this clock with a face of about four feet diameter. See Twitter feed below https://twitter.com/MiddletonRailwa/status/839614158106677248&ved=0ahUKEwjQ_4OTiaLTAhUELMAKHaacDAIQFggaMAA&usg=AFQjCNEDWUNfKXxl9zN_vqm-LtxeQRX_Bw&sig2=n8EyiEtb2yjGL0O3EgvOXg
  25. The South Devon still has the link and I remember the days they operate into Totnes. David Hill I'm sure if you are interested to jot down your experiences of operating the Middleton Railway trains Jenny will probably publish them in Old Run. A tale I've heard was Fred setting Sweet Pea going climb off so he could close Moor Road with the red flag - not sure how true it is but tales like this are mentioned in the mess room! There have been some who operated the train before going to school. The last delivery were the spare bogies for the EM2. See how many of these people you know or remember. This was a presentation of 20, 30 and 40 years service badges. Presented by our vice president Don Townsley. Some of these people have done over fifty years and will be recognised at the AGM in June. http://www.southleedslife.com/middleton-railway-volunteers-clock-677-years-service/
