  1. Use a 1420 instead. Attach a piece of wire from the g/box over the top of the nearest stretcher. Just make sure there's no fore and aft movement once attached to the g/box. Mike
  2. For the last 10 years or so I've been using this. I've had to change the filters 3 times during that time. But I wouldn't spray without one now, they do make a difference. https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=5345&name=portable-spray-booth Mike
  3. Plenty, here in Wales, not sure about Tewkesbury though? Presumably bottled....
  4. I once asked Geoff Brewin about these underframes for these coaches - as I wasn't happy with the way they looked compared to photos I'd sourced. They are LNER underframes to get the gas tanks to fit. But they look too long between the queen posts. You can get the gas tanks to fit between a proper GWR underframe. The coach I built with the tanks was a H38. Mike
  5. Good recovery Dave, looking forward to seeing the completed engine Mike
  6. Looking good on the Scot. You might want to give some thought to the cover for the pipework to the top feed. Having built this kit (the thread was on RMweb years ago), it is worth thinking about. I don't think that my solution was brilliant...I used paper soaked in superglue. I did experiment but I'd try something different on the next one. Either that or I'd get the Brassmasters boiler - which includes this already cast onto the boiler. I might be mistaken about that, I'd have to fish my spare out if I can find it! Geoff Brewin, before he passed, had designed and produced an upgraded chassis for the Scot in nickel silver, have a look at the Comet site as the chassis allows for it to be sprung...bit late I know, but worth thinking about for the next one. :-) Mike
  7. Excellent show, good to see Chris F out on tour. Terry Bendall and his band of helpers did the Society proud once more. If you meant to go and didn't...then you missed a treat. Mike
  8. Dullcote can also be bought in a bottled form for use in an airbrush. I've got a bottle of it somewhere, but if I remember right it takes neat cellulose thinners to make it usable - that's the real downside of the bottle. I could be wrong about that, it's so long since I bought the bottle. Mike
  9. Good on yer Gav! Giving this life a change is a good thing, we all need some revolution and evolution from time to time. Hope this goes well and you find what you're looking for. Mike
  10. Can I send you mine to paint as well....
  11. WOW and the track work doesn't look bad either! :-)
  12. No problem here Ivan...all good with the website Mike
  13. That looks fabo!! I could do with some track building pointers... Have a great S4N, I shall be decorating my sons new house in Hemel Mike
  14. That is super impressive! Love the tracks on the crane...

    A start on airbrushing

Interesting...what are you filtering the spray with before it 's sucked out of the box and where are the fumes being extracted to? Might want to put one of these in front of the fan, assuming it's strong enough: https://eileensemporium.com/index.php?option=com_hikashop&ctrl=product&task=show&cid=2809&name=replacement-filter-for-airbooth&Itemid=189&category_pathway=1279 If you don't, your fan will merely swirl spray paint around the box - and model - this will also ensure that any white spirit particulates are caught before being passed into an unguarded fan. regards Mike
  16. Trying to make contact with Mr Edge, no answer on the number given on UK model shops (tried 3 times today at different times) and cannot send an email via that site. Anyone got an email address or another number. I appreciate you don't always want to answer the phone... regards Mike
  17. I built 2 for Rod Hall...never, ever again! Plastic ba*****ds! Nice job though. Mike
  18. What an absolutely spanking engine! Wonderful work Mr Darch! Almost there, I need to settle down and put all the parts into an etch and then lob it off to PPD, but I need to draw other things to make it worth my while sending the chassis to be etched. Normally I'd ask Justin to add one to the end of one of his test etches, but he's really tied up with other more pressing family matters and I don't want to add pressure. So the end of Feb could be more like May. Can you wait? When are you over next? Mike
  19. Mr Darch...stunning! and it's not even finished. Completely convincing model. I hate to say it but you may have surpassed the Brit with this. No matter where it runs it's going to be the head turner! I hope this is going to visit a large layout in Tewkesbury? Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and peaceful New Year. Mike
