The only time I look like that is if I lie on my back

Hi, I have recently dismantled (and reused the parts of) a couple of flat pack wardrobes, and I now have the back-panelling of one of them left. Has anyone used this material successfully as a baseboard?
I'm thinking of a narrow shelf layout reinforced with batten. The board itself is largely intact, approximately 4mm thick with a wood effect laminate on one side, and there is much more than I need for the area of my planned layout so I could easily double, or even triple layer it and bond it with PVA.
I am mainly concerned about:
1) Track pins (probably won't go in!)
2) Warping/bowing (if any water creeps in - especially during ballasting and scenic work.)
3) Sagging over time (aren't we all?)
4) Noise (a single layer of hardboard would be more of an issue I think?)
Thanks for reading, all help is greatly appreciated. :-)
I can definitely identify with point 3 'Sagging' but its normal for someone my age!

I would be interested to know if anyone thinks it would be possible to use the Cambrian 6Ton hand crane as a basis for building a Taylor Hubbard hand crane pictured in the link below.
There doesn't seem to be a RTR or kit version of this crane available anywhere, I have some bits and pieces from the Dapol Diesel crane kit, which include jack legs, Jib and other odds and ends although the jib looks different to the Taylor Hubbard crane.

I had thought of maybe reworking a six wheel tender chassis for the crane or possibly building a chassis from plasticard and adding the chassis detail. The crane and runner wagon wont be run on my layout only sat on a siding.
Any thoughts, ideas and opinions would be most welcome and much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

In 1982 I was using parrafin in signal lamps plus also for side and tail lamps!

Thanks Mark, doing a bit more digging it seems some used lamp oil and others used paraffin.

I always remembered a distinctive smell from railway lamps, did they burn paraffin or lamp oil or other?
Thanks in advance

Pages are loading fine but my space bar has no effect on RMWeb unless I use CTRL Z to delete the first letter of a sentence, strange as it works with everything else MS Word etc.
