  1. Impressive; would like to see Rapido stray into the trolley bus area, for example the three axle trolley buses as found in Huddersfield. One would go nicely with other Huddersfield omnibuses I have.
  2. What a thought, having got D400 and D429, both with 'weird' pcb/wiring. Bogies at 12 O'clock high........
  3. All I want is some early EE Type threes, coloured in beautiful green with split headcodes, not forgetting the central headcode panels. Accurascale must be well ahead with these as the Deltic bogies and Type 3 bogies were much of a sameness weren't they?
  4. Yep, so replacing the insulators...............I'm having enough fun replacing Bachmann Class 85 pans, which became worn/damaged.
  5. This looks a very nice model. I have been waiting for this for sometime, being a fan of the V2. Is there any indication as to how the trailing bogie is designed and functions?
  6. That's good to know that there will be spares (I hope in good quantities). I don't wish to be a nay-sayer , however, I don't quite figure how a replacement can be installed if the unit is firmly fixed as described. I appreciate that providing for some method of detachment from the roof would make the production costs rise, but accidents do happen with OLE even given the best of circumstances, vide. West Coast on the 27th. inst. It seems to me that perhaps the insulators ought to be designed so they can be replaced, thus allowing a replacement pantograph to be installed.
  7. Thank you for your updates so far. With respect to the Pantographs, are spares being made available as complete units and how are the pantographs being secured to the roof to make them replaceable?
  8. One beautiful D5040 received. The revised sound settings seem an improvement; now, to re-blow D5000, D5016, D5098!
  9. Question ...How can it be a truck when it is a fixed part of the chassis? A non-sequitur, methinks.
  10. FYI I have one centre coach going spare, if any one should wish to contact me by the internal message system.
  11. Pete 75C has it just right; The way it was is preferable to the way it is. There is also a problem with wish lists, some express a wish, then when it follows 'the way it is path' they lose interest, or things change. Not easy for a producer.
  12. A very welcome model. What is missing from the details in this news release is a description of the drive mechanism and pick-ups. Will it be a true 1-Co-Co-1, which has pick-ups on all wheels? I note there is reference to the coupling being part of the buffer beam, but I return to a question posted on an earlier occasion, will the droopy coupling that comes with Heljan models be dispensed with, rather than keep on producing a glaring idiosyncrasy? Also, will the chassis be of an improved material, obviating issues found on some earlier models, i.e. Class 23s (Baby Deltics) and so on?
  13. I tell you what would be a good idea....sort out the drooping couplers for a start, then improve on the on-board wiring, which is kind of flimsy, devise a different more accessible location for fitting a decoder. Apart from that a Trans-Pennine DMU, or an up to date Class 30/31
  14. 24 hours later, this loco seems to have near star qualities, almost on a par with the SLW 24s I have. Impressively, the couplings mate first time with the rake of coaches it was attached to. I like the way the coupling is pivoted. A well thought out model with good dcc combination of motor and decoder. So far so good.
  15. My D602 Bulldog arrived this AM, with a Dapol Imperium decoder fitted by Kernow; it has had a running in turn of well over 1 hour in one direction and about 3/4hr. in the opposite direction. Its behaviour seems exemplary, so I have attached a rake of 7 Bachmann Mk.1s which will have the same running periods. The unit seems well-oiled (!) but there is a slight transmission noise coming from it. I expect this noise to disappear after being running in due course. I have the same Bachmann logo on the loco description pamphlet, and the packaging suggests Bachmann all over it. Pity Ark Royal has sold out, perhaps Chris will be authorising a further production run? Superb models at first glance.
  16. There is one upgrade that shouldn't be carried out on the Rebuilt MN's and the Un-rebuilt WC/BBs is the trailing bogie. Conversely, the re-built WC/BBs should have the trailing bogie modified to permit a moveable trailing bogie (applies to A3s, Brits, Clans and presumably any other Pacifics in mind).
  17. I had the same issue with a 'Baby Deltic'...body absolutely glued on, as if some superglue had run riot. Loco chassis could not be accessed, so I have put it aside..a scrapper.
  18. Saves bending underneath the boards, if the design is good it can be camouflaged to fit in, not to mention if the motor is connected to the point via rodding, then it is almost protoypical. Incidentally, DCC Concepts do a prototypical point motor and rodding, though I have yet to test this one out.
  19. I'm looking forward to the surface mounted version, pl-1006. The latest Model Rail (No.259) gives a brief run down on the item.
  20. And die in Buxton, I think completes the saying
  21. A close relationship with the RN Operations Centre in WW2 then!
  22. There are no set rules as others have discussed. However, the construction of your layout in respect of power supply is a consideration. My layout is divided into 2 power districts, which require separately identified cables and run from a command station and its booster. The first power district follows the traditional red for +ve and black for -ve feeds, the second power district has green and yellow cables. The layout is divided vertically for the transition from one district to the other. I also have a booster which supplies power for the accessory decoders and signals, this uses blue and white cables, and is in effect a third power district. Droppers are rather more randomly coloured, but usually are fed through the appropriately coloured cables to PDBs on the busses. I have yet to find any company that is interested in selling/making buss boards of any length, so there are more PDB’s perhaps than might be considered necessary. The PDB’s are neat little numbers from Brimal Components, who also supply neat connector boards, suitable for point control and more besides. The layout is controlled by an NCE Power-Pro system, which has as protection for the Command Station and the Boosters using individual EB1s, which feed out through RRampmeters and PSX boards for separation of the districts. Polarity is also an issue, as I have triangles to deal with. This kit for this is Tam Valley dual and hex frog juicers: www.tamvalleydepot.com/products/dccfrogjuicers.html This arrangement has provided a degree of stability where operation is concerned, and has been arrived at through trial and error, not least the configuration of the power districts. The end to all this is play time, although re-wiring has been extensive and somewhat time consuming. I provide links to the dccspecialties site in respect of the RRampmeter and the PSX kit. https://www.dccspecialties.com/products/rrampmeter.htm https://www.dccspecialties.com/products/powershield_x.htm This arrangement has provided a degree of stability where operation is concerned, and has been arrived at through trial and error, not least the configuration of the power districts. 23. Hi, I have found that the DCC Concepts ADS is the Rolls-Royce product in this arena. I run an NCE Pro-Cab outfit which has a separate bus and separate booster for that bus to which all accessory decoders, Lenz, Digitrax, CML, Train-Tech, and the related signals are connected. The Digitrax have given me the most problems, particularly on installation. I found that Train-Tech kit is most useful for signal installation, but their accessory decoders can be useful. However, all that being said, the DCC Concepts accessory decoder is worth the wait. It would appear from my enquiries that this supply issue does not just apply to DCC kit, as I was looking to buy some spare replacement point motors from Gaugemaster - not in stock. It looks like an ounce of patience on my behalf is required. As a codicil, other operators say why put signals and points on DCC!? To which DCC Concepts would point out that their gear runs on Analog as well.
  24. Nice one...my dad's favourite smoke! The sub would be HMS Unrivalled (P45), I presume. Correction to that the sub model is 'T' Class - Unrivalled is 'U' Class, somewhat totally different...so shall we say HMS Tally-Ho (P.317)
