  1. I had some so called high end prints done 2 van bodie to fit the NGS stove R so not big, with postage and VAT they cost £162. One side was brilliant the other was just better than shapeways. The advantage of shapeways is that I know I can polish up both sides to the same standard, but with the high end prints I stood no chance of getting both sides to match.
  2. So the chuff chuf comes from the back of the loco then tender drive and smoke unit in loco with speaker would be better.
  3. I take it all the pictures are from the same period, 1980 ish? Excellent pics will have to have a look at the Farish 25s at some point now.
  4. Looking good, look forward to seeing it at some point.
  5. Mine are to Scale 148 9i standard, and will be marked to show this.
  6. I will hopefully have a production batch within the next few weeks, as we are happy with the tester.
  7. I do need to do some checks and possibly adjustments, this is to Scale 148 9i standard, scale 148 do have other tighter standards as well.
  8. Hi, Mine are being done in association with Scale 148 to 9i standards - approximately 0.93mm flangways. We are waiting for test sample for approval and check the dims are correct.
  9. Hi Pete That is a shame as I have got mine into production getting a test cut done ready for approval, due this week. Good luck with this project.
  10. Glad to see your laser cut brick work comes out looking like mine, bit of an odd pattern fortunately it looks better painted.
  11. Sounds interesting been to the museum and drove a shunter their at the Dapol open day last year.
  12. Hi Mick where is this press release as it is not on Dapol website or facebook site?
  13. Hi Pete As I said before I am looking into these and will hopefully sort out the details tomorrow evening. I'll be in touch soon with an update.
  14. A bit baist if you ask me I have now read 2 posts today from you bashing this product. Do you know for a fact that the range will not be expanding? I suspect not, as you know things take time and money to develop. I wish I could develop new products quicker but time ticks away far to fast.
  15. New online catalogue here http://www.oxforddiecast.co.uk/ebooks/feb_may2014/
  16. Hi Pete I am looking into this at the moment, I have someone lined up to turn them for Scale 148, just need to get on and sort it as I need a set as well.
  17. How about a basic metal cast body with extra detail parts, diecast can be very god these days?
  18. Hi Mick I agree contemporary would be a better phrase, but has a similar issue and could miss lead. today's, modern, contemporary, current scene are all restrictive and can be misleading in the future.
  19. I vote for Transition Blue diesel Sectorisation Early Privatisation Privatisation first and second are blurred as they did not all end and start at the same time and the east coast main line has had several. Modern image could be used for the last 5yrs and would roll forward each year. To me modern image is Privatised railway scene.
  20. I have just used Kickstarter to fund a project to fund the development of 4 N Gauge wagons, on a much smaller scale than Dave is aiming at. Some companies do raise alot of money by using crowd funding. I suspect that model railway market may be unwilling to back such a large project at the start. If you were to kickstarter to fund a wagon first of to prove the system and move up it might work. Another approach is to use a different type of crowd funding platform where you look for business backs who bid to give you cash in exchange for interest (loan type) or percentage of profits (equity). From my experience this is still a very new concept in this market, very popular in war-gaming, technology, food, music and card games. A resent card game on Kickstarter was looking for abot $7000 and raised about $275000, so it can be done. It must be said that crowd funding is not an easy task and takes a lot of time and thought to make it work.
  21. I really do like Johns work it is truly inspirational, that working crane is true genius.
  22. It was mentioned at the Dapol N Gauge members day at the beginning of October I thought.
  23. I suspect this is because you are an employee, I know that I get a lot of stuff refused as the rules change from one month to the next, drawings are checked by different people using different interpretations of the rules. Recentlely had 2 sets of lamp posts order one double arm the other single arm, both test printed fine, but I decided to thicken them up a bit. Double arms printed, singles refused on the arm thickness yet both are the same. Complain and was informed the drawings were checked by different people.
