    We have a couple of these on the mixed seed and niger seed feeders. They seem to do the trick for wood pigeons. (We rarely see feral pigeons.) I'd imagine that most squirrel-proof cages would do the trick but the cage needs to be far enough from the seed to prevent any pigeons that do manage to work out how to perch on the cage being able to put their necks through. We also have a cheapo fat ball feeder that incorporates a cage and the magpies have no difficulty getting at the fat balls.

    I realise you are trying to be helpful, rekoboy, but this is exactly the kind of single use plastic product the world can do without. They ought to be banned in the same way as plastic-stemmed cotton buds, plastic straws and plastic drink stirrers were a couple of years ago.

    Not 30s but I remember red and green from the 70s. In the case of the farm around the corner from where we obtained our deliveries of unpasteurised whole milk I think green replaced red at some point. When did bottled milk first start being delivered? A quick online search suggests glass milk bottles were in use from late C19th but I recall my grandparents telling me about taking their own jugs to buy milk.

    Not only is that a nice composition but you appear to have achieved a good match with colour and tone, minimising the step between stronger foreground colours and paler background ones. 👍

    I believe the key ingredient in stick stuff removers is acetone which is most easily obtained by purchasing (or borrowing) some nail polish remover but read the label as there are acetone free ones. I'd be tempted to contact Morley and see what they say about replacing the feet too. I have only needed to contact them once and they were very helpful. At the very least you will be making them aware of the problem.

    Which is suprising in some respect as it would be an excellent excuse to sell a set of 100 mineral wagons to go with a P1. 😀 I have seen one or two examples of tweaked Hornby A1 bodies sitting on modified Hornby O1 or Heljan O2 chassis.

    Assuming they are still available, Kean Maygib do buffer heads of several sizes: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/91034-kean-maygib/ These come with tiny springs. They are an easy way to add sprung buffers to RTR or kit-built wagons. Alternatively you can simply feed the springs to the carpet monster and glue the buffer heads in place.

They are several scale feet too short but once you accept the various compromises they can be made to look quite good. A search around RMweb will bring up a number of examples though, sadly, many posts are now lacking their photographs following last year's crash.

    Nothing RTR for GCR days but the Hornby Gresley 51' 1½" non-corridor coaches would be OK for the LNER period. The old Hornby Grisleys (now sold as Railroad) can also be tarted up, repainted, altered as much or as little as you like to make passable ex-GNR or ex-ECJS coaches.
