  1. I remember hearing Bruce Springstein play a concert at Villa Park. I lived just by Hall Green station at the time. For those not familiar with Birmingham it's about 10km as the crow flies. ps. Just seen the wedding pics, hardly recognised you without the hat and ciggy.
  2. Taking the thread back towards topic, has this Bacup info ever been posted? I spotted it on Grovenor's website. http://www.norgrove.me.uk/dmu.htm
  3. Mind where you clean off the MTB and gear. No muddy footprints on the hall carpet.
  4. My first saloon tour in 1968/9 was with a Class 40 covering the Coventry PSB area.
  5. They fetch just about enough to cover the fees and postage on a well known auction site.
  6. That track running down from right to left makes a fantastic downhill on an MTB.
  7. I wish people would disable predictive text on their phones or tablets before posting.

  8. They spent about half of their time propelled, plenty about that in this thread including my post #229 earlier today, and in the thread titled Inspection Sallon Working http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/88795-inspection-saloon-working/&do=findComment&comment=1541035
  9. LMS design but BR built 999503 in Regional Railways livery propelled by 31107 31105 Bescot TMD in Transrail livery at Galton Bridge, 17 July 1995. Photos C E Steele
  10. Sad day. Dave's work was a great spur to get going with a layout after some years of static modelling. His character shone through despite his illness, and his posts will be sorely missed.
  11. Don't you believe it. On this tour by the time we finished (4pm) it was too dark for photos using an SLR with 400ASA film. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/57246-black-country-blues-rolling-stock-workbench/page-4&do=findComment&comment=748725
  12. Which some did start their lives with, but as Spams in unlined malachite green.
  13. Hardly surprising that only about 10% of his listings result in a sale. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Only-REF-157-Presentation-Boxed-3-Aviation-Fuel-M-O-D-Tankers-/281402118713?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4184df9239
  14. The front is original Midland by the look of it. The roof is like LMS 1930s style, but the end seems strange. It isn't the usual LMS style, the planking is wrong. to me it looks more like NER planking.
  15. Not with Stags but at Kyle https://www.flickr.com/photos/16205328@N02/8514623736 and at Inverness https://www.flickr.com/photos/terry47401/10082829343
  16. The bang when 'Rocket Ron' blew the window out of the kitchen whilst brewing up.
  17. Congratulations Simon. I am sure that you will make a success of it. Keep us posted on what goes on. There are several on here who went through a similar programme so I am sure you will get plenty of support.
  18. One of my pair was always derailing at a particular spot. Checked the back to backs and all three axles were slightly different.
  19. Rocking and rolling down hill from Woodhead through Torside and Vale House in the sunshine this afternoon. Just a pity I was on a bike and not an O4 or EM1.
  20. The shed plate on the Jinty looks like from when Sutton Oak was 8G, certainly not when it was in the 10s, so that would put it later than March 1958 I think.
  21. There's also a bridge and some embankment missing at High Hills Road between New Mills and Thornsett.
  22. Waiting for a train at Darlington doesn't seem that bad when the previous leg of the journey entailed a half hour wait at Middlesboro.
