  1. As I'm moving my modelling location to the Cumbrian Coast in 2017/18 so I can model the DRS 37's and Mk2F's, I've decided that I could probably do with a couple of these FNA wagons, but were they in service during that date? Would they also be mixed with the older Bachmann FNA's as well?
  2. I will say that I’m quite impressed with the latest announcement and it got a couple of ‘ooh’s’, but not enough to endanger the credit card. Had there been a WCRC 47/8 and 40145 in BR blue, as it was a few years ago, it think it would have been a different story and it grabbing me warmly by the throat
  3. If they do, make sure they do it without gangway's as these weren't fitted until refurbishment in the mid 70's and painted blue/grey.
  4. including 1035 Western Yeoman but it was found to be in poor condition, so they bought 1010 Western Campaigner instead.
  5. BR couldn’t sell it to anyone because when Brush sold it to BR, it was written into the contract that when BR had finished with it, it had to go for scrap. The group went into negotiations with Brush, BR and Cashmore’s but nobody would budge, and the rest they say is history.
  6. If you look on YouTube, one's been up to Georgemas light engine, last year I think?
  7. From when I used to work for FGW, the original plan was the 2+7 were 'high capacity' sets and had revised seating (pack em in tighter) and buffet removed, used mainly on the Oxfords, Newbury's out of Paddington. The 2+8 were 'go anywhere' and I'm at a loss about a 2+9 as there might have been issues with platform length at certain stations (Westbury for one). I think once all the sets were reformed and in service, it was what was available as I regularly saw high capacity sets at Bristol and Cardiff
  8. Here's some pictures of 60009 'Union of South Africa' at Peterborough on the 6th December 2018, and I see what you mean about soot along the top of the boiler and tender, as well as on top of the running gear, though as the loco had just come from Kings Cross, I'm pretty certain it had been there awhile. I think in my little world, I'll run Bahamas 'as is', along with it's support coach, saying it's been cosmetically 'weathered' for a filming contract and heading to or from a preserved railway.
  9. I’ve recently bought a Bachmann Jubilee class loco, 45596 ‘Bahamas’ which was an Ian Allen commission with factory weathering. I did consider attempting to remove the weathering but decided to keep it as it is, therefore keeping it’s value, but as I want to model it in it’s preserved form, it left me with a dilemma. I did consider looking for a earlier release of the loco and just swop the bodies over, but I’ve been told that the chassis on the two models are slightly different, and won’t fit properly. As it’s all nice and shiny in it’s current preserved form, not the weary 1960’s condition as modelled, it got me thinking, would a locomotive owner deliberately ‘dirty up’ a loco for a filming contract or something similar? Any thoughts would be most helpful.
  10. How about EWS/DB Cargo FKA/FOA ‘Megafret’ and FQA intermodal wagons?
  11. Not sure if this has been asked before but I was wondering when bracket signals would be used? As I know very little about semaphore signals, but I assumed that they would be used where clearance’s tight and signal sighting might be an issue. Any information would be most helpful.
  12. Saw the model on Sunday, was inspired and have duly pre-ordered the number 20, the Reading Signal Works shunter. Never saw it in real life but I'm sure it will make a great shunting loco on a small shelf style layout.
  13. I honestly expected it to be a Class 37 or 55, following on from the OO gauge models, but as per other's have said 'great little loco', especially for your first dabble into O gauge loco's and a sensible choice.
  14. March for example, a GBRf wagon maintenance facility
  15. I’m thinking of putting a small goods shed on my layout, which will be set in the summer of 2019, and I was wondering if, however unlikely, are there any still about? I appreciate that any pre nationalisation buildings will have long since closed, abandoned, sold off or demolished, but are there any modern prefabricated buildings which could be classed as a ‘goods shed’ possibly housing 3-4 long wheelbase wagons, be still in use? Any sensible answers would be most appreciated
  16. When I was attempting to acquire 50017 when it was withdrawn from BR service, Geoff Hudson was extremely helpful. In a way, I’m glad I didn’t get it as buying the loco was the least expensive part lol
  17. Because I missed out first time, various reasons and I thought they were sold out long ago.
  18. I was just wondering if there’s ever the possibility of another run of these?
  19. I spoke to a TPE train manager in Liverpool a few years ago, and we were talking about the CAF Mk5’s. He said they were plagued with electrical problems and suffering from cracking, and that CAF Spain wouldn’t talk to CAF Newport to sort the problems out, that’s why they went to Wolverton to be sorted, and they duly charged the leasing company for the remedial work. From what I gather, it’s a bit like the APT back in the 80’s, they have finally managed to get the problems sorted and TPE have thrown the towel in, which is hardly surprising considering. I’m sure the TPE will now place an order for more Class 802’s to replace the Mk5’s and possibly the 185’s, and the Mk5’s will probably get moved onto another TOC or possibly Europe. Be nice to see them on the Pompey - Cardiff’s, but that’s just wishful thinking 🤔
  20. I think if 37114 was done in large logo, as per when it was allocated to Inverness and had the car headlight mounted on the bonnet nose, then Accurascale are probably the boys to do it. I’m sure that if Bachmann did it, it wouldn’t be 100% correct as they would shy away because of slight change of tooling and possible associated costs, whereas Accurascale seem to relish modelling challenges like this. I know @class26 , amongst others would be very pleased to see 37114 ‘Dunrobin Castle’ done as a high fidelity model, so over to you @Accurascale Fran 😉🤪
  21. I seem to remember reading years ago, that the Southern Railway asked for 40 S160’s in 1945/46 but the USATC said no.
  22. Count me in, but I’ll have just the one.
  23. Am I right in assuming that 97301 and 37610 for Rails will be arriving on the 28th? I’m hoping to grab a spare 97301 as I failed to pre order at the time they were announced, as my finances at the time we’re unable to pay for it.
