I made the shed smaller than the previous attempt so more of the yard is on show.

I've had to use some modellers licence but it looks the part.

Plasticard structure is built but still a lot of work inside and out to do.

The backscene also requires more security fencing.

The antenna mast is from PH designs and is still in build, cabling and detailing to add yet, then paint the receiver faces.

More work continues on the hard standing in front of the shed.

A picture of the layout at this stage, and a couple of fitting stock item pics

2 Network Rail 57s are going through the weathering steps, I have renumbered one and kept the other as57312 with added nameplates.

Plenty more left to do yet on them, also the chassis are to be stripped for weathering.

Both are fitted with lenz silver chips.

a shame to cover up that hand built track with concrete

Some good stuff going on here - attention to detail on good subject matter.

Yes - maybe could've got away with PECO finescale when sleeper spacing scale is irrelevant on hardstanding.

Thanks guys

Yes Ian agreed, but as above this is a test bed for hand built track for another layout so why not!

Cheers

Bob

Superglue on to MDF works well for rail strips - as long as you make sure the correct spacing is attained before curing.

Not sure about this method for points though......

(But I am sure this has been done)

  • 4 weeks later...

I wanted the sidings to have a unloved look about them, I borrowed a Noch static grass machine off a mate and set about building the tufts up using 4 different coloured grasses and different lengths.

I also found some ready made tufts and weeds for the war game market online and planted these around the depot, and used woodland scenics flock to build up the bushes.
