To make it realistic perhaps you should cover the tracks in 10mm of gloss varnish!

There is a pic of the Blue Pullman on a rail tour in one of the local Plymouth then and now books

No blue Pullman I’m afraid, I would like one but that would be an expensive project in 7mm, I’m lead to believe a blue Pullman was trialled to Plymouth in the early days as well but was deemed unsuitable for the south Devon banks.

The GWR surveyed a new inland route and even started construction but WW2 stopped all that, in fact I think the land was only sold off during the 90’s. That has to be given serious consideration along with reopening the southern route not just for the benefits it will bring to the north Devon economy but as a suitable diversion route.

Having lived on the Barnstaple line for some 30 years, which I use frequently we're lucky to have an hourly daily service which resumed today following the blizzards, so I think its rather pie in the sky to expect anything better within the foreseeable future. Lots of discussion to be found elsewhere on the subject on the RMweb Parish.

Barny line on the left, and the unused Okehampton line to the right taken early today.

p.s. I hope you don't mind my slight interjection with the above on your super modelling thread, quite happy to remove it if you wish.

I think Prieser do some bathing figures ( yeah I know wrong scale ! ) you could secrete in the far corner but I reckon you'd have to get some fuzzy blanking plates for 'em !

Intentio kit,

post-5983-0-44007000-1520181837_thumb.jpeg

Small signal box for one of the next boards, based on Parsons Tunnel signal box although mine will be called Parsons Ponit signal Box, this board will incorporate Parsons Tunnel mouth as well.

post-5983-0-00929400-1520182030_thumb.jpeg

Even though it’s not a scale model it has to incorporate the real features so it looks familiar to all.

I looked into having a 5 or 6 window standard box done but couldn’t really justify the design cost in the end. Was rather hoping you might opt for a more common one for this!

Do you know what area it controlled? Presumably not a lot given the small size?

Parsons Tunnel Signal Box was a part time box and could be locked out of use, I guess it was to split the section between Dawlish and Teignmouth at busier periods.

Phil at Intentio is doing the above box in quite a few variationspost-5983-0-77209100-1520198030.jpeg

He already has this one based on speech house road in his range.

Another delivery of foliage from the Heki Range, ordered via the Wheelspin Models web page. Lighter green this time.

The fascia will cover the exposed polystyrene.

Back to the Polak Range next for more wild bushes.

The next two coaches are fast nearing completion with Mat, Another easybuild MK1 in the usual configuration and a MK1 suburban to boost the Lionheart B Set and JLTRT Collett suburban.

I won’t be collecting these for a while yet and we’ve agreed the next two MK1’s for construction.

I hope to get the MK1 set up to 8 coaches.

Phil at Intentio is now doing laser cut curved boards that will be ideal for this project as I’d like to eventually take it to shows,

I’ve got a few friends who are willing to help with the transportation etc,

I wish I hadn’t sold so much of my wagons over the years as I’ll have to start building them back up again.

Having said that this layout will be more coaching stock than anything else,

A few sets I’d like to get would be

A mixed GWR set mainly in maroon but with the odd Blood and custard these will mainly come from the Haywood range,

A Midland Set again mainly in maroon, I already have a Stanier period 3 and a rebuilt period 2 under construction with Jintyman, this will get extended with more stock from the sidelines range, a few portholes are a must as they are my favourite ex LMS design.

An eastern set formed of a few of Heljan’s/ Hattons Gresley’s plus A few kit built options, one of Ian Kirk’s articulated twins would be nice.

I think I will go for a 4 Car set of Mk1’s One side blood and custard and the other stock green, with a Haywood Collett excursion dining set plus a Churchward Toplight, or a Bulleid dining set and a Maunsell low window

The suburban set is now complete

The obligatory Milk train and lastly a very mixed bag of Parcels stock. Let’s hope Lionheart extend their MK1 Range to include the BG, GUV & CCT & Hattons do a Gresley full brake!

It’s going to take a while to build up this level of stock but that’s just an outline of what I’m aiming for. A good balance of stock from all regions as they all would have been seen in South Devon.

The two 4’ boards marked out, one based on Shell Cove and the other is on the section only accessible from in land.

The original 4’ centre section has grown to 6’ and will also include the GWR 2 aspect colour light signal. This was of course for Ranelagh Bridge but as you can see it lives right on the edge and is in a precarious position and ripe for damage by being knocked over.

I will commission another wind swept tree from Mike for this board as I did intend on having a second tree originally but deleted it when I laid everything out as it looked too cramped but now it’s 2’ longer I can accommodate it.

Following this with interest Steve, one of the most charismatic stretches of line in the country.

I came across this when I was looking at the You Tube clips earlier in the thread, not sure if the guy is brave, mad or both but there are a few interesting shots of the masonry etc. and of parts of the sea wall not normally accessible.

Thanks

There are some interesting views there especially the one tunnel mouth I’d like to replicate, it looks like the engineers have modified the original broad gauge portal to except standard gauge double track.
