  1. @Tom F showed your work to the Wife and not for the first time she asked have we been on that. A work of art.

Pepper seems to have a bit of a cold. She is curled up on top of the sofa looking rather sorry for herself. I took pity on her, covered her up and supplied some bacon from my sandwich.
  3. I knew of him via Peaky Blinders, but didn't know of his other work. 65 is no age.
  4. Sounds like the wire might be Aluminium or maybe stainless steel. If it was mild steel you might have stood a chance. I used to soft solder stainless steel on a daily basis and the flux is very aggressive, but good. It doesn't burn or blacken like plumbing flux. Once that happens it's time to give up and start again.
  5. Drunk again at the prize giving was he! My eldest tells me Lewis also left his third place trophy behind in protest over the F1/FIA Wolff debacle.
  6. Been a bit slow going this last few weeks. But finally gotten to the stage where the bridge has been primed and a stone base coat applied. Need to think about the weathering.
  7. Strange stuff Barlow rail. We collected some from a garden in Compton. No idea how it got there. It was meant to be buried and ballasted to gauge with no other means of maintaining said gauge. It was seen as a cheaper alternative to the standard Broad Gauge ( see what I did there) baulk road. However as one might expect accidents occurred. There is an account of it in one of Brian Arman's books on Broad gauge locos.
  8. Many long lengths of bridge rail were recovered from fences that eventually ended up laid at Didcot. I think a similar profile is also known a crane rail these days.
  9. It was a treat to see Bernard Cribbens at the end of tonight's episode. Shot just before he past away.
  10. Logan Sargant confirmed for next year. That's the first time the grid will stay the same from one year to the next!
  11. I've succumbed! Will it look right amongst my GWR fleet on Almost Arley, who cares. I've been fascinated by it since childhood having had a Kitmaster model.
  12. Tell me about it, although its better than not getting old!
  13. Work continues on the bridge. I've also started to layout the track work.
  14. Mine arrived today and its rather splendid. I gave my chocolate to my youngest son who was equally impressed.

She is a little sweetheart and has been on my lap all evening. She adopted us as a kitten Christmas 2015. Her owner was away alot and left food in the garage for her. I opened the back door one cold evening and she was sat on the doorstep rather cold and hungry. 10 minutes later she was curled up with the other 5 in front of the fire. Her owner had her "done" and asked us to look after her. When we moved in 2016 he let us take her as she had moved in permanently. Out of all the cats we've had over the years she and Max are the only ones to be solely my lap cats. Both constant companions a few years ago when I was off sick for 6 months. My wife has always had the lap cats previously.

Called our tabby Pepper as it seemed to be her colour.

Bruised and battered, like my wallet, Max is back home minus all but two teeth. He is camping in my eldest's room where he can have a soft diet unmolested by the rest of the cats.

I must admit Max is a lot easier to give medication too than our youngest Son used to be. First we had to catch him and then it took two of us to give him the injection followed by vomiting as he was so worked up. Even as a young teenager he would be sick. Fortunately he's been of the medication for about 2 years and as he is 16 next month its onto the adolescent clinic. Then it will be down to him.

Try getting drops into their eyes! Max has cottoned on that when we have two small bottles in our hands that they are meant for him. Poor chap is in the vets at the moment for tooth extractions, X Ray's and blood tests. Hopefully he will feel better. I doubt we will given the estimated bill.
