11th - 12th February 2022, saw the Cale Rail Society host their annual Model Railway Exhibition, at the Gartell light Railway, Templecombe. This years line-up featured no less than 13 layouts in a variety of gauges and scales - including a first public outing for 'Forest of Argonne', along with a selection of my Railway Modeller dioramas - as well an excellent selection of societies and trade stands. The event also saw the Gartell Light Railway running it's first public service of the year, with GLR Bo-Bo Diesel Hydraulic, No.1 'Amanda' hauling services between Common Lane and Park Lane, along the old track bed of the Somerset & Dorset Railway. Hi Dave, glad you enjoyed your visit and the layout. Yes, I do have a topic in here regarding the layout, which can be seen here; Sadly, I believe most of the images of the build were lost when RMweb went down a while back, but recent posts are present, plus all the videos of the build of course. As for shows, there are no more currently planned, but I might try and get it in Wincanton later this year, but will have to see.

Hymek of activity... British Rail Class 35 'Hymek', No D7001 eases across the A4175 and into the Fry's Somerdale site with a rake of empties. Behind the scenes it's all go getting Fry's Somerdale ready once more for another public outing, this time at the 48th Somerset & Dorset Trust Model Railway Exhibition, which is due to take place this coming weekend (7th/8th Jan) at Edington Village Hall, Edington, Somerset, TA7 9HA. The show featured no less than ten visiting and club layouts and dioramas in a variety of gauges and scales, as well as a good selection of trade, demo and society stands. A look at some of the latest models and prototypes from Hornby Model Railways, filmed on their Roadshow Stand at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition 2022. Highlights included a first look at the new and extensive range of TT:120 products currently in development, featuring working samples running on the firm's TT:120 display layout. Also on show were some of the latest samples of the manufaturer's forthcoming models in OO, including 3D printed samples Stadler Class 755 Flirt unit and LMS Stanier 5MT Class 4-6-0s, EPs of the LMS Stanier Turbo Motive and a plethora of livery samples, including the all new LNER Bugatti nose Gresley P2 Class 2-8-2 and Ruston 88DSs. Finally, there was a short demonstration of the forthcoming 'Realism of Steam' steam generator system, fitted to one of the commemorative range of 'Flying Scotsman' locomotives, produces to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the world famous locomotive. Returning from the front... Amiens 1918 - Tracks & Trenches

A look at some of the latest models and prototypes from Rapido Trains UK, filmed on their Roadshow Stand at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition 2022. Highlights included livery samples of the forthcoming Hunslet 16" 0-6-0ST, working EPs of the Ex-GWR 1500 Class 'Pannier' 0-6-0PT in OO and British Rail Class 28 Co-Bo in N, as well as many other exciting developments cross the range. Also on display were samples of the manufacturer's eagerly anticipated range of commemorative 'The Titfield Thunderbolt' produces to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the classis Ealing comedy, including L&MR 0-4-2 'Thunderbolt' (including samples of 'Lion' in here true form), GWR 'Loriot Y' with Dan's House, Buffet Car (Wesbech & Upwell Bogie Tramcars) and Pearce & Crump Bedford OB. The big push... Under a week to go until Amiens 1918 - Track & Trenches outing at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition. In preparation, the layout has now travelled closer to the venue, to make loading and traveling slightly easier for the weekend. Not all has gone to plan however, with car issues and forgetting to load certain items required for the event. Luckily this move was a trial run, so those missing items can be packed. The layout with need to be cleaned upon arrival at the venue (something I normally do the day before the show), but due to time and overlay storage space. It's a risk, but will see how things go...

Is there any confirmation when pre-orders for liveries in batch 3 can be placed?

A return to the front... Been a busy couple of days getting Amiens 1918 - Tracks & Trenches ready for it biggest outing to date... The Warley National Model Railway Exhibition! They layout and stock has been in storage since it's last outing in early 2020 (pre-Covid), and requires a fair amount of TLC in preparation for the show. Over the past few couple of days, I've... . Replaced the road backscene transition (which has perished) . Repaired damaged trees and foliage . Cleaned and dusted scenery . Enhanced the paintwork on scenic details. . Touched-up painted work on figures . Checked track and wiring . Cleaned track . Serviced and cleaned locomotives . And finally a quick test run. There's still lots more to do including cleaning the rolling stock, replacing the signage and checking the Hessian skirt still holds the layout, before finally packing away for the big weekend... At this stage I'm honestly don't know if I'm excited or anxious about the whole thing... Just so much to keep track of late.
