  1. Hi cheers for replying it's fine with a none sound Bachmann decoder
  2. Hi Recently installed the above decoder into a Bachmann 24/1. Its got the digitrains sound file on it. Sounds great and the built in speaker is reasonnable for now. However, sometimes it stalls for no apparent reason. Sometimes needing a bit of prodding to get going again and even then it will slightly move and cut off again. Its not just on pointwork it does it on plain track as well. Track and loco wheels are clean. Points are insulfrogs. I would change to elcectrofrogs totally but i have some SL-90 slips that are only available in insulfrog. I tested the loco with a standard Bachmann decoder and it runs great no issues at all crawling over the same trackwork. So are zimo sound chips more sensitive than normal decoders? I have a Bachmann 121 with factory fitted zimo sound chip and thats fine so not sure what the issue is.
  3. This caught me out first time as well. You need the 2 end ones under the couplings and theres 4 that you need to access through the bogies. Hold it up to the light and youll see the screwheads thru the bogies. Dont yank the body off theres wires connecting the body and the chassis for the headcode lights
  4. Yes i know hence why i asked what decoders people are using. Id got a standard Bachmann 21 pin to hand id planned on using. As i said i have had the issue of the loco running the opposite way before but never had the lighting reversed as well. Can this be sorted using CV settings? If do which ones. Thanks
  5. It was deffo a Heljan tamworth castle. It was more than revered direction. Ive had that before and corrected it via CV29 but the lights operated correctly. In this video the lights and direction are wrong. Not sure how thats corrected. Heljan Class 25 'Tamworth Castle' (OO Gauge) in Ice Cream Van Livery - YouTube
  6. What decoders are people fitting? A video has popped up on youtube showing the lights being wrong - ie tail lights on when going forwards and headcode lights on when going backwards. He says its the chip hes using? Has anyone else had this issue?
  7. What decoder have you used? I just had a similar thing with an EFE J94. First fitted a Guagemaster chip and it ran terribly. Replaced with a zimo chip and it runs like a dream now. The zimo also has dedicated settings for coreless motors.
  8. Bachmann advertise there DCC sound locos as being able to run on DCC. Heres the instructions from my 121 dmu
  9. Just to update. After a lot of running in and changing to a zimo decoder running is now fairly good.
  10. Could well be. Olivias had photos up of both the 94XX and the recent sound fitted bubble cards days before any other retailler
  11. Havent adjusted it yet was just prinitng the appropriate pages from the manual. Will try those setting tomorrow. Thanks folks
  12. Ive now swapped to a zimo chip and its miles better, still not perfect but much better
  13. So to update, the loco runs fine on DC but with the above decoder installed its very jittery and stalls on every point. On DC it runs nicely over the same pointwork.
  14. Hi Ive installed a DCC18 chip into an EFE j94. Running is quite erratic atm, hopefully it gets better after a good run in. The decoder seems to be preprogrammed with interia settings and possibly setting that limit the speed of the loco as its got quite a low top speed on DCC compared to DC. Are there any settings i should be changing to better suit a coreless motor? Back EMF for instance?
  15. Recieved the blue NCB one today and sadly its nowhere near as good as the BR one i mentioned previously in this topic. The wheelsets have a lot more play in them, but the loco is picking up from all 3 wheelsets ive checked. Running over insulfrogs is very iffy - its not my layout as the previous J94 and a little hattons barclay are faultless runners over the pointwork. Ive put a gaugemaster DCC 18 decoder in it and to be honest it runs worse on DCC. Hopefully i can change a few settings on the decoder to give decent running. If not sadly it will have to be returned.
  16. It will either be a loksound 5 or a zimo chip. It wont be a loksound select as they havent been available for a while
  17. If anyones still after the blue coaches @ £16 each i spotted 5 in the window at Trident trains today
  18. Picked a green sound fitted 121 up from trident trains today and the sound is really good. Its a zimo decoder also. 28 functions but the instructions dont say whose sound file is used. The supplied speaker sounds pretty good and the volume is fine. Im hard of hearing and i can hear it perfectly well.
  19. Has anyone got a video of the factory fitted sound 121 models? Looked on youtube but cant see anything
  20. Cheers ive already got the blue / grey fitted with a Bachmann decoder. I want a sound one now there out and my local shops offered to allow me to trade in my existing model, or split the sound chip out of one of the models. So ill see whats cheaper.
  21. Does the Dapol pannier run ok thru these points?
  22. Can anyone conform these will run ok over set track pointwork?
  23. Seems pointless retooling it if there not making it dcc ready.
