  1. I've just purchased one of the Foster Yeoman 59005's in DC, but will want to convert to DCC when it arrives, an Imperium decoder seems to be the preferred one (not looking to do sound for now), but I'm wondering whether I should order an Imperium 1 (6 function) or Imperium 3 (8 function) for it? Any advice gratefully received.
  2. Quick question, is there a closing date for preorders?
  3. Might be flogging a dead horse here, but what about another run of the 00 TEA wagons, appreciate they aren't a "new" model, but I can see another run being snapped up instantly.
  4. With that specific one, the plan is 80X MO through to Paddington, 16X MSX to Reading. So that is "baked" into the plan.
  5. Developing on this slightly, for a time (certainly by 2009 these had stopped) there were two early weekday morning FGW service (formed HST) that started from Abergavenny and ran north to Hereford then to Paddington. Starting from Abergavenny at 05.11 and 06.09 which was "The Cathedrals Express".
  6. Afternoon all, I received a lovely sound-fitted 73109 in NSE livery (from Dapol) for Christmas, however there was no list of the sound functions in the box, does anyone have a copy they could PM over to me? As I'm rather guessing at the moment! A trawl of the Dapol website has also yielded no luck in finding the list. Thanks in advance!
  7. Has anyone got any tips regarding which decoder to buy for the new 33/0s? I've tried a couple of Gaugemaster chips (between 1A and 1.8A max) which all get very warm, so I'd be keen to find a decoder that didn't threaten to burn a hole through the roof!
  8. I binged the first 7 videos during the week and then caught up with video 8 yesterday, fantastic. As Steve said, as good as the manual is, seeing practical demonstrations of how iTrain works really does help whet the appetite to get it and makes you think "this is for me", so thank you (and Iain) for putting these together. Looking forward to the rest of the videos! Richard
  9. Thinking about Murco/Puma's terminal at Theale and how to fit it into a corner on the new layout...does anyone have any detail/photos of the depot?

Good choice! Did you model this on the end? You can get some great photos from Google Earth plus the Hornby Skaledale Murco Fuel Storage Tanks are based on those as Theale. Hornby R9508

  10. Hello all, I'm looking for Lima TEA tanks, not bothered about livery because I intend to repaint them. These seem to be like hens teeth at the moment, so will also consider any that are not in the best condition. Kind regards, Richard
  11. Hello, I'm looking for one (or two) RevolutioN Trains OO41101 TEA 100 Tonne Tank Wagons in VTG Red livery, I missed out on these originally and would like to get one or two (that might be surplus to requirements) for the layout that I'm building. Thanks in advance, Richard
  12. Back in 2018 SWMBO and myself did Reading to Palermo on the train over the course of two weeks, which included Rome to Palermo in one day towards the end of the trip. 100% worth doing, though no catering so, as per seat61.com, take a picnic, relax and enjoy the lovely scenery go by. The train ferry from Villa San Giovanni to Messina is an added bonus too.
  13. What's going on with the rail that's balanced on what looks like temporary wooden(?) blocks in the foreground? 3rd-rail-esque.
  14. Some lovely photos there John. However, I believe the second photo is actually Bodmin Parkway rather than Liskeard.
  15. Do I weather the track then ballast...or ballast then weather the track???

I just spray track and ballast with this Sleeper Grime stuff and then use other paints to give variations. http://www.gascupboard.co.uk/railmatch-rm1406-sleeper-grime-7640-p.asp

  18. There are two splitting distant and stop signals either side of Reading, one before the ladder at Ruscombe on the UR (visible from Southbury Lane bridge looking East), and one before Tilehurst East Jn on the DR, alongside the west end of Reading TCD, viewed from Loverock Road: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.4626808,-1.0042766,3a,24.8y,328.68h,93.84t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sN93Er2nRcujvtoYy2rQ3KQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en.
  19. The clarity on those photos jbqfc is stupendous! Great photos.
  20. From the photo on their FB page I can make out the words of what I think is "Air Braked" on the packaging. Along with a 3 letter wagon code ending in A.
  21. Just received the Oxford Rail Release Announcement, £34.95 for the Mk3a. Not too bad at all!
