Indomitable026
Is the road crossing the railway the same angle as on pg176 of the book? I haven't changed anything from the designs. I thinking maintaining the correct angle on this bridge is paramount to getting the look right that end?

Indomitable026
Three of the low level dividers/ seat supports now installed It looks like something needs putting down that hole before I put the next full height divider in.

Indomitable026
I've inserted the bogie retaining nut, and floated a little MEK around it to hold in place. I've put the screw in to help in getting the orientation of the nut correct, as it doesn't sit flat in the bottom of the hole.

RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted March 18, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 18, 2017 Getting there.... Me to: This is what I'm making, the bridge at the north end of the station. My highly detailed scale working drawing (eat your heart out John). And progress to date. I'm using the old favourite Wills random stone as a starting point, but have filed off much of the relief. Further work will follow to alter the stone size and shape. This is the first modelling I've had the time and inclination to do for weeks.

A nice old lady came into the pub and said she'd like a taste of the bishops finger. Laugh...
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted March 19, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 19, 2017 Spams, The track will be straight on to the board, there'll be no cork for any sort of ballast shoulder as their didn't appear to be any in the station area. untitled.png It looks to be a maximum of 5mm to the top of the rail. Not 100% sure but there's some evidence of drainage channels being required in the cutting either side of the bridge. Certainly, I seem to recall that there were channels in the (very wet) cuttings that we walked through a few years back.

So the question is do I cork everywhere, or just cut these channels out of the base board locally. The drainage channels are probably deeper than the depth I'll achieve with the cork. I'd go for cork anyway - a spot heavy sanding will enable the edges of the track bed to be a little less perfectly flat than just the ply top. Cess would probably end up being cut out of the cork and the rest out of the board top?
RMweb Premium 2ManySpams Posted March 19, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted March 19, 2017 A long search for images of the bridge this morning has resulted in not that many close-ups. It's almost as camera shy as Andy's cottages on BCB... The arch ring appears to use the creamy coloured Marland brick... Should look nice.
Indomitable026
Right, a couple of minor mods required. I'm using the Zamzoodled couplings so some modifications are required to the coach ends. On the left are the Zamzoodled and on the right are the ones supplied in the kit. These are the mounting plates that need to be fitted to the coach ends. Here are the coach ends, the existing moulding will have to removed and a hole cut for the metal replacements. These are Zamzoodled instructions - very comprehensive. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1484/3160/files/ZamZoodled_Metal_Coupler_Instructions_1.9.pdf?15919046345432412603

Indomitable026
Sorry to butt in (regular lurker) but that fitting does not look quite square to me. Agreed, it's only pushed in. I'm just working out what I need to modify before I start sticking things together.
steve howe
I've been looking at these Zamzoodle chaps ever since JC introduced them and was able to see them in action at Warley, they look the D'sBs, the only concern I have with them is I don't know if its possible to incorporate a 'delayed action' feature so you can shunt remotely.
