RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted July 7, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2021 (edited) Last night I gave up trying to fit the axles to the chassis, it was so fiddly I ended up breaking one. So I left it until this afternoon, when I had calmed down a bit... However, they are now on: And almost in the right place and straight as well! So I thought I'd temporarily fit the wheels: I'm pretty pleased with that. This evening I'll paint them, then fettle the wheels and tyres a bit, before painting them too. Thanks for looking, Al. RMweb Gold Popular Post Alister_G Posted July 7, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 7, 2021 (edited) A bit of paintage has resulted in this: I don't know how much more to do to this now. I might have a go at a really rusty bulkhead, but on the other hand it doesn't look bad as it is now. What do you lot think? Thanks for looking, Al. RMweb Gold Mick Bonwick Posted July 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2021 I think it's pretty darned good! See? I can understate things as well. I think that you have done an excellent job, Al, and you are to be commended to the highest RMweb authority for this result. Some way back you referred to yourself as a modeller. I think that is wrong. You should have used the term 'model maker.' 3
RMweb Gold Nick C Posted July 7, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 7, 2021 I think you should leave it as it is now - adding too much more would start to hide the detail you've put in. The bulkhead can be leaning against the wall of the shed... 2
MrWolf
I'd agree there, once you get the floors out and the front wings off, a lot of bulkheads are only held on by the wiring and choke cable, everything else having rusted out. Besides, as others have said, it would be a shame to cover all that impressive work. Body tub outside on a couple of carpenters trestles and the rest propped around the shed. A work in progress, or not as is often the case. 1 4

RMweb Gold Popular Post Alister_G Posted July 8, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted July 8, 2021 (edited) I thought I'd try placing the Land Rover in a rural setting for some photos... But this is not the first abandoned / derelict vehicle i have modelled. Back when I did Bakewell, a farmer had this in his fields, but I've rudely uprooted it for these shots: Thanks for looking, Al. RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted July 8, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 8, 2021 (edited) Thinking about a setting for the Landie, and although the origin of the idea was to model a shed with it inside, I realise that most sheds / barns would be too enclosed to be able to see much - like the barn above. So I thought maybe a structure similar to this might be a better setting? Al. Edited February 3, 2023 by Alister_G replaced images 5

RMweb Gold Rowsley17D Posted July 8, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 8, 2021 That looks far too neat and tidy for a lot of the farms around here. There are some who take a pride in their farms' appearance though.
