Nidge do you know what year the bottom (presentation) photo was taken?  The bloke seated front left looks very much like somebody I knew who had left the Western in the early 1970s.

The crossing on the Bridport branch is Loders, knowing what took place there I suspect the two women the hut are either waiting to join the train or meet somebody off it.  (Loders was reputedly the busiest intermediate 'station' on the branch as it was very handy for folk who wanted to go into Bridport shopping but I'm told it could be a bit awkward loading prams and buggies).

Are you sure that's 'moocher' green in the bottom photo?  Mind you it looks to have been taken some years before I knew him.  A well known star of the screen of course as he was the Fireman in the film 'The Titfield Thiunderbolt' and he can be made out in the role of the Bishop in one shot in the film.

Mike - not sure of the date for the Bescot presentation shot but it looks like the early '70s to me. As for the Moocher Green shot I'm pretty sure it's him in the photo. Sometimes though, when old hands post photos on the various staff related facebook groups memories can get a little bit hazy when it comes to identifying old colleagues, I remember one on the Old Oak group a while ago where two retired hands were each adamant that the chap they were trying to pin down in the cab of a Thousand at Padd were two completely different blokes!

Came across this photo on a FB history group of my home town Swindon.

A works open day in 1974 , I would have been 9 at the time, I probably visited as I came from a family that worked there but no photos in our family collection.

Any one recognise themselves?

Not sure what the board on side was proclaiming on King George Vth.

What a poignant photo - presumably that is Mr Mills' cap being retrieved from where it came to rest after his ordeal at scumbag Bigg's hand ?

I think it is his cap yes, but Biggs had nothing to do with assaulting Driver Mills, he was sitting in one of the gang's two Landrovers at the time and never entered the cab of D326. It was Buster Edwards who koshed him over the back of the head.

I was gonna south end of new st, plat 10-11 side looking down from the bullring wall

If you mean New St Derby end then Plat 10 has the connection from the Stour Lines coming in which would be roughly above the drivers head.  The image is the wrong way round to be the other end. I'm now convinced it is Euston, my only doubt is whether it is Platform 4 or Platform 2 but I'm leaning towards P4.

Edit.  There is also a carriage watering point in the 6ft which were a feature of Euston for many years.
