RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 7, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 7, 2022 Yesterdays job, landor st to small heath and back to crewe caught the train from crewe where the not NMT was waiting to head to Liverpool from Holyhead, seems weird seeing a HST powercar hauling mk2 coaches! Mentor Then strangely in new st en route to duddeston, another colas HST powercar on a test train! Taken through the window, Aston signal box, a bit of a strange one as it controls the cross city line while everything else in the west mids (apart from new st too) is controlled from the West Midlands signalling centre, I believe this and new st box days are numbered as it will all very soon go to the WMCC 323 departing duddeston Saltley with the aforementioned West Midlands signalling centre 66732 Small Heath Unloaded and ready to go It was then another in round in Tyseley and back to crewe and done same today but without the landor st bit

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 9, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 9, 2022 Just four from tonight, a short bescot to rugby job, a fairly lengthy train though, 5 falcons and 47 coalfish, plus another loco on the rear, 1800ft long! bescot DB train waiting to leave too And into rugby, shut down ready to be remanned in the morning day off Sunday before a week of 196s
RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 10, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 10, 2022 Thought I was night off last night but got an email telling me which locos I needed to take from basford hall to bescot, glad I did or I’d have been late in! The job was basford hall to bescot with locos and a Stone train back basford hall 2 of my locos And coupled to the last one Into bescot 66797 looking all clean! 66721 While I was there I got asked to go and start a DB 60 up for the Boston steel train, not one I’ve had before so another to add to the driving list as I had to move the train about to do a brake roll by as you can see 3 days of inactivity and a cold start can be a bit claggy! Soon settled though 66721 now on its train And my train back to crewe Into basford hall 196s tonight

RMweb Gold big jim Posted January 11, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 11, 2022 Assuming you mean tamping not tramping then no thanks, I’ve conducted a few tampers in the past and have been on them on a working shift but it’s not for me! RMweb Premium Ncarter2 Posted January 12, 2022 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2022 Have spent many a shift in the back cab of Tampers. The 07’s were impossible to sleep in, but strangely enough, with the 08’s and 09’s I found I could quite easily ‘rest’ my eyes, especially when the 09’s were in continuous motion setting. Oh ok, not seen that advert, I did actually look at doing it a few years back when it was advertised internally but thought better of it in the end as I have a lot of variety and do lodge turns anyway anyway a few from last night, 196s again, really bad fog last night on the first runs, 100mph with less than 100m visibility! Small Heath train passing by while running round in Tyseley 196112 again The fog in Stafford, if you look carefully the 66 from the first pic is lurking in the distance! And the 2nd trip, fog cleared at nuneaton And back to Stafford Freightliner passing through same again tonight

RMweb Gold Popular Post big jim Posted January 17, 2022 Author RMweb Gold Popular Post Share Posted January 17, 2022 Yesterday was a couple of possession trains off site near Lichfield to bescot, due to a cock up I had to run to Stoke to run round instead of Stafford Waiting to leave ‘Bessie’ The Stoke run round involves going all the way to kidsgrove to turn back back to bescot then taxi back to Lichfield for the 2nd train which I managed to run round in Stafford this time, had to walk to the rear to check we were in the loop with enough room to get the loco back on though! And back into bescot Small Heath job all week
