bgman
Had to laugh, I had a quick look at the live webcam and automatically the chat comes up. One comment from a chap in Russia commented "It's a very nice lake there" A response was " It's the sea mate !!! " 1

RMweb Gold Captain Kernow Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 5, 2021 This is a good idea - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-56979811 I always used to ask the suits why this couldn't be done, but was always given some 'brush-off', citing geological reasons, but now they seem to have changed their minds. 8 2

RMweb Premium Kris Posted May 5, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 5, 2021 I wonder if there will be provision in this tunnel for electrification. Whilst many many years off (if ever), some sensible design now could save huge amounts of money in the future. 2

KeithMacdonald
On 13/02/2021 at 21:26, Robert Shrives said: how much of Cornwall and West Devon will be left habitable if tidal changes makes Dawlish impassable on a permanent basis Robert, this is a classic "straw man" argument. Please be aware that the predicted tidal changes are measured in millimetres per century. As the tidal rises (and land sinking) have been happening very slowly for the last 11,000 years, since the end of the last ice age, humans have and will continue to adapt. It's what we're good at. Much more significant is the once-every-few-decades storms (that have been happening ever since the railway was built) with waves 10 or 20 metres (not millimetres) higher than normal.

RMweb Premium PhilJ W Posted July 4, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 4, 2021 The webcam should be interesting from mid afternoon tomorrow (Monday 5th). According to the forecast an anticyclone (low pressure system) with accompanying rain and high winds will cross the coast just to the west The rain and wind will be hitting Dawlish Warren from the south east. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2651474 1
