1977joey
Hi guys, well finally got my phone back from Samsung today to take pictures which was sent for repair, hence me being quiet on the progress of Shewsbury Foregate.I have now constructed the main Island Platform & bays, No's 4, 5 6 & 7. The tenplate is ready for Platform 3 to be started. The buildings shown are from my old layout 'Shawbury' which will be adapted for this one. All trains are running fine too thankfully Here's some pictures showing how far i've got... This last picture showing my new addition, the Farish Class 25 seen rounding the curve past Shewsbury Foregate No1 signal box. A look across the platforms showing the West Midlands branded Class 101 at platform 5, the loco's are stabled in the old bay platforms 1 & 2 (only used for that purpose) An overall look at the station with the platforms now constructed Looking north at platform 4 with the would be Class 37 hauled Cambrian coast express, i do have a 37/4 on order for this train.. & finally Platform 3 showing a 2 car Sprinter on a Chester train Cheers for now guys Mark
1977joey
Hi Chaps,Happy New Year Well it's been a while since i've posted, it's been a busy few months so not much modelling been done until the last couple of days when I decided to get back to the layout & start constructing the platform canopies. Made with clear plasticard & canopy valance from my old station. More pictures will follow once the canopy is finished. The following pictures also show my new Farish Class 37/4 which will become 37430 'cwmbran' eventually for my Cambrian Coast Express. I've also acquired railfreight grey 37506. The canopy in place still under construction... This shot showing my newly acquired Class 37/4 at platform 4 Cheers for now guys, Mark

1977joey
I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out. I love what you've done so far. Thanks Garrett, glad you like it...i'm about to do more work on the station canopy this evening hopefully Well guys, Just a very quick update, you'll notice I have changed the name of the thread to 'Shawbury Foregate', the name of my previous layout. I've done this as it worked well for me before & saves the confusion of giving the impression that i'm actually building a replica of Shrewsbury station (I would need 3 times more room just to fit in the junctions at each end of the real thing). This is just a representation based on Shrewsbury & it's operations back in the 1986-88 era. Cheers for now guys Mark
1977joey
Hi chaps, Construction of the platform canopies continues with the island platform almost complete I'm hoping to start Platform 3's canopy tomorrow. Here are some pictures of the almost complete canopy. These will be painted once I have them all done... Cheers for now guys, Mark

1977joey
Looks like another belter in the making! Thanks Marcyg, glad you like it Well guys, more work done this evening on the retaining wall along platform 3, & also around the old bay platforms 1 & 2 As can be seen in this pic where the class 20 & 25 are stood is platform 1, the white screen is where the station spans the river A shot of the north end of the station, as can be seen, things are just 'in place' at the moment, the main station building will be above the buildings on platform 3 Cheers for now, Mark

Thanks Graham, finding the time to sit & do some modelling lately is pretty scarce aswell as motivation but i'm trying to do a bit at a time, it's coming together now though which i'm pleased about Hi, Looking great, really reminding me of sitting waiting for the train to turn round on the way back to Aber. Cheers simon, glad you like it Well chaps a bit more progress to report before tying them in properly, the platform canopies are now done, the north end of platform 3 just needs lowering slightly. Here are some pictures of how it's looking... This shot shows the 'trestle' type canopy down the south end of platform 3 & the more traditional type at the north end, once the final tweaks are made to these, they will be glued into place, then i can start the station front area. Cheers for now guys Mark
1977joey
Hi guys,The canopies on the station are now pretty much complete with the staircase leading to the footbridge completed as well as the lifts. Now these are done I can look at doing the main station building & the area in front of it which will be built on a raft over the hidden storage sidings.I'll paint the canopies once other fixtures are in place around the station. Here are some pictures.... This picture shows the new staircase & lift shaft A view of the canopies at the north end of the station A shot of how the stairs/lift/overbridge fit in with the canopy structures & the south end of the station. More to come soon.... Cheers for now guys Mark
lmsforever
The canopies look superb good to see this layout coming back.
1977joey
Hi guys, Been a while since I last posted but the layout is coming along, albeit slowly. I have now started construction on the upper level & station forecourt area. I'm hoping to get all this into place over the next week or so & painted. I'm yet to do something to the main station building/frontage as I'm not happy with how it looks at the moment, having already been used on my last 2 layouts it's looking pretty tired. Here are some pictures of the latest progress.... This shot showing the north end of the station & where the road bridge will be.. The buildings beyond the DMU/carriage sidings in this pic are just for show at the moment, not in their final spots. Looking at the north end of the station showing an InterCity 125 on platform 4 & next to it at platform 3 is my new addition, the new farish Class 31. This shot showing the construction of the upper level Cheers for now guys , Mark

lmsforever
The layout is really coming together and a good representation of the prototype the detail in the canopies is brilliant.
87023Velocity
Hi Mark, Your layout is looking great. Like the period you have chosen with the mix of DMU's and loco hauled which would be seen along with the freight of course. Cheers Simon
1977joey
Looking good Mark. Always a favourite layout of mine - I do like busy stations, and N gauge Thanks Southernboy, glad you like it. Think I've got my motivation back again to get on with it now The layout is really coming together and a good representation of the prototype the detail in the canopies is brilliant. Cheers Imsforever , the canopies need to be glued into place, though i have a few fixtures & fittings to go underneath before I do it. Hi Mark, Your layout is looking great. Like the period you have chosen with the mix of DMU's and loco hauled which would be seen along with the freight of course. Cheers Simon Thanks Simon Glad you like it & the period. I tried modelling post 2000 a few years ago but couldn't keep up with all the liveries & franchise changes. The sectorisation period remains my favourite, especially the late 80's when fresh new liveries were replacing the Blue & grey. porkie
Absolutely stunning modelling, just read the whole thread and enjoyed it. Keep up the good work Phil
scruff
you are doing some excellent work Mark. I've followed all the layouts you've put on here and this one is the best one yet! I guess what makes it better is the fact that you model the same era as me and I also used to live near Shrewsbury. Your layout just feels "Right". Keep up the good work. Cheers Mark
