The class D headcode was used for Empty Coaching Stock not running class A, so it may be that or a special local code.

Now, welcome to the forum, Silverback, and thank you for the explanation about that headlamp code. I was probably being a bit dense yesterday, but your explanation has made everything nice and clear.

 

So, this evening, we have another four photo’s, courtesy of knoxrj, on Flickr.

 

The first one is of class C7, 2992, at Beverley, in early 1947. I apologise about the quality of the photo’, which appears to be a kind of postcard, with a hand written caption, but I wanted to include it for historical reasons. You certainly will never see anything like that again…

 

 

The second photo’ shows class F8, 1581, working in on the ‘Malton Dodger’. 
 

 

The third photo’ is of class G5, 2084, at Hull Paragon station in the mid to late 1930’s. To the left can be seen a four wheel trailer for use with the Sentinel steam railcars.

 

 

Finally, we have a photo’ of class D20, 2101. It looks like it could be to the south of Beverley, and if so, will be on a working to Hull.

Again, sorry about the quality of the photo’, which looks to be a postcard, but it is of historical interest.

Good evening, everyone. This cold evening, we have another four photo’s by knoxrj, on Flickr.

 

The first one is sadly a bit grainy, but is otherwise a good photo’ of a Q6, near Ferriby, on an up freight train. The number is not fully clear but starts as 334x. No date is given, but is probably the 1930’s.

 

 

The next photo’ is of G5, 67282, taken from the from Argyle Street Bridge, and proceeding to the carriage sheds, on a Sunday morning, to get extra sets for the Hornsea and Withernsea services, in August, 1955.

 

 

The third photo’ is a well known one of class K3, 61846, at Filey Holiday Camp station, on the 25th August, 1956, after the runaway and crash into the bufferstop. The breakdown crane is in attendance. I thought I would include it since it is an important part of the history of the railways of East Yorkshire.

 

 

Finally, we see class B15, 823, on a Bridlngton train at Cottingham South, on the 3rd August, 1935. A typical summer train of ex-NER non corridor stock. There are three strengthening carriages either side of the ‘core’ of a four carriage ‘Composition C’, of BT, CL, T, and BT.

This first one is of class B17, 2832, Belvoir Castle, on the Banbury Fish (as far as Doncaster), at Ferriby, on the 12th August, 1933.

 

 

The second photo’ shows a class A5, at Willerby, on the H&BRlwy, on what appears to be a mid 1950’s excursion train.

 

 

The third photo’ is at Holtby cutting, on the York to Market Weighton line. It shows class D49/1, 62703, Hertfordshire, on a York to Hull service formed of seven Gresley corridor carriages, in what seems to be the late 1940’s.

 

 

Finally, we have a photo’ of class J28, 2418, on the 13.40 to Withernsea at Hull Paragon station, on the 8th July, 1933.

The second photo’ shows Alexandra Docks shed, in c1925, which includes Y7, 985, Y7, 984 and J74, 82. Apologies for the poor quality of this photo’, but I am posting it for ‘historical record’ purposes.

 

 

The third photo’ is of H&B Rlwy J75, 2495, at Hull Springhead, in c1934.

 

 

Finally, we have a photo’ of class G5, 67282, at Willerby & Kirkella, on the 13th November, 1954. The train is composed of the usual two ex-NER push and pull equipped carriages.

The first one shows a class A6 at North Cave. Sadly, there are no other details, but it is seen on the usual two ex-NER non corridor carriages.

 

 

The second photo’ is of class B2 5428, and B16/1, 1371, at Hessle West. It appears to be the 1930’s, with the B2 on an express passenger train, possibly to Manchester.

 

 

Thirdly we have B16/1, 2381, arriving at Scarborough, on train 77, in what is early LNER days. A long train of carriages will be full of day trippers. 
 

 

Finally here’s a photo’ of another B16/1, this time 61469, between Seamer and Scarborough, on a BOCM special, from Selby, with a class 101 just visible on the other line, on the 14th June, 1959.

The first one is of a push and pull G5 worked train at North Cave in about the mid fifties.

 

 

Next we have a photo’ of C7, 2206, powerfully ascending Enthorpe bank, on the line from Market Weighton, on a Leeds to Bridlington service comprised of ex-NER non corridor, clerestory roofed, carriages.

 

 

The third photo’ is a ‘follow on’ of the same train. For these two photo’s there is no date, but c1930 is one possibility.

 

 

Finally, here’s a photo’ of class D24, 2425, at Cottingham, on an evening train to Bridlington, in the summer of 1931.

Interesting to note the LNER B16/1 has what looks like a Westinghouse brake pump thingy but the BR one in the lower photo hasn't. I have a B16 kit to build so just some of the details I am going to have to examine closely.

The next photo’ is a portrait shot of class D49/1, Shire, 234, Yorkshire, in ex-works condition, at Hull Dairycoates.

 

 

Next we have a photo’ of class D20, 708, on the 17.08 Hull to Scarborough service, near Scarborough, at Weaponess, in c1927. The second carriage appears to be a ‘Club Saloon’. It has end doors only, a central toilet, and a roof board.

 

 

The fourth photo’ is of class D17, 1909, on a Hull train near Cottingham South Junction, on the 13th May, 1936. 
 

 

Finally, here’s a photo’ of class J21, 65064, on a DVLR Railtour, at Dunnington, on the 17th May, 1958.

The first one shows a much changed scene - a huge new housing development is underway on both sides of the line. D49/2, 275, The South Durham, is seen leaving Beverley, in c1936. The Minster is in the right background.

 

 

The second photo’ is of class J28, 2413, on a Bridlington to Selby train, at Driffield, on the Market Weighton line, in August, 1935. Four carriages, with an all third at the front for strengthening.

 

 

The next photo’ shows class D20, 62360, on an SLS, H & B tour, near Eppleworth. No date is given, and just now I cannot recall the date of that tour.

 

 

Finally, here’s one of several photo’s taken of D16/3, 62571, on the RCTS, ‘East Midlander’ special at Beverley, on the 12th May, 1957. It would go via Market Weighton next. I have a photo’ of that train between Cherry Burton and Kipling Cotes, but cannot post it on here owing to copyright restrictions.

The first photo’ shows Dairycoates allocated WD "Austerity" 2-8-0, 90450, as it shunts Esso tank wagons at Saltend, in about 1967.

 

 

The second photo’ is a shot of Dairycoates allocated WD "Austerity" 2-8-0, 90352, as it too shunts Shell / BP 35T, GLW, petroleum tank wagons at Saltend, again in c1967.

 

 

Next we have a photo’ is which shows a former GCR class B9, 6105, at Cherry Tree, Beverley, in c1933. It is on one of the long freight trains from Yorkshire, via Market Weighton. Note the second vehicle which is an ex-NER bogie ‘Road Van’.

 

 

Finally, here is a photo’ of Wordsell Class D17/2, 4-4-0, 1909, as it stands on Bridlington Shed, on the 21st April, 1927.

Thanks for sharing the plan and photo Mick. The idea for modelling Patrington Station hasn’t gone away and still keeps coming to the front of my mind when thinking about what to do for the next layout project.

I thought petrol tanks were the silver one’s that needed barrier wagons, the black carried the less volatile products like tar/bitumen and without need for barrier wagons. Can someone please confirm?
