And, using what little logic I possess, this could be the outskirts of Braintree?

The smokebox number is difficult to read but looks like 67217.

Looks remarkably similar to http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/103405-jonnys-where-are-these-photo-album/?p=2602217 :mosking:

Both look like the Kent and East Sussex Railway to me; one of Colonel Stephen's finest and happily still with us.

I'm not sure but I think the first one is Bodiam, and the second one Northiam

Thanks for sharing all these fascinating pictures.

Dave.

Elsenham

Edit to add..

I think this location had/has the longest level crossing gates certainly on the Eastern Region. The Liverpool St and Cambridge control phone circuits met here. There was a coupling unit to link the two circuits. I know that because it was the only thing i got from this box when it closed..

Goodness me, so it is. The cameraman must have been standing in a position which completely obscures all the sidings and signalling at the far end of the station.

I like the ground frame for the crossover though; very civilised.

Thanks very much for the id.
