In the 70s the only engines were Cosworths or Ferraris. The Matra works cars with V12s did not win a race and finished in 1972. BRM lasted until 1977 but did not win a race after Monaco 1972 (ex-Matra driver J-P Beltoise!). There was even a GP where Ferrari did not turn up and all cars were Cosworth powered - 3L Formula Ford!

Probably the only period were there was no dominant engine was the period between Schumacher and Vettel.

I spose the new qualifying nonsense will stop the teams waiting til near the end of the session before bothering to turn up. Still going to be almost impossible to police as cars will inevitably get impeded, have a small mistake on a corner at just the wrong moment etc and that's them screwed.

Still think they should do the Touring car trick and draw lots for the grid or even reverse the previous race result tho that would probably involve the car in 11th place having "engine troubles" near the end on the race.

A longer FP1 would help give them more chance of getting in an unimpeded lap.

So long as people realise that it's a test/practice session and not all teams will be running all the time. Just for the sake of having cars on the track...

Well its the end of February, (well almost), and Channel 4 said in December when it announced that David Coultard and Whisper Films would be doing the Presentation that it would NOT announce its TV line until February, so what happened to that then?

There's still just about another 4 hours of February left.

What do you think this is, a Bachmann wishlist????

Jake Humphrey never made any secret of the fact that football was his great interest, and he is now the lead on BT's coverage - which is quite a big deal. He hasn't been doing the job long, and I think it would be unlikely that he would swap, even if asked. He also has a young family, so I imagine that the travel involved in F1 wouldn't particularly appeal. Certainly his Tweet to C4 showed no sign of wanting to come back.

"Former world champion Fernando Alonso, 34, says he could keep driving until he is 50, given the current pace of F1 cars." Quote from a Spanish radio station.

The McHonda is really that slow then...
