jazz
Now we are on with the next kit. This is a Majestic models kit. So far I've just completes the tender. The coal rails were very fragile so one has to be careful not to squeeze them when handling it.
jazz
A couple of days work to get this far on the chassis. Found some half round wire, so will attempt add that to the tender coal rails. Here's the loco chassis so far.

jazz
Another slow build. Time it's because my other half on Friday was rushed into Bangor Hospital due to her gallbladder blockage. Looks like she may have to have it removed when they get the track blockage cleared. Anyway she's being looked after well and the ambulance arrived quickly too. Anyway it's onwards with the J35. Took some time to get it all squared up for soldering together. I think that's maybe the worst over with on it. 3

I was just about to ask how you find it compared with the Jim McGowen version that you built a while back .... but as the new build is a J35, I won't bother ! LoL Hope all goes well with your other half. Regards, Ian.
jazz
Thanks for the wishes Ian. The J35 is very similar to a J36 as you may know. I think Jim's J36 is a much better kit to build. I do enjoy building his kits, simple no fuss kits look good when built.
jazz
Things are getting back to normal now my better half is back home. Got the J35 all ready for off. Fitting the half round beading to the tender tail sides was a bit fiddly but looks much better for it. 8 2 2
jazz
Next on the WB is a David Andrews 47xx class Kit. This will be a delight to build I think. Starting with the tender chassis, no problems here.
jazz
The tender is now well underway. A few more things to add then ready for the primer. A lot of details on this Collet tender. 10

jazz
Thanks Steve. Yes, it is a pity they are not readily available. The tender is now ready for priming. 9

jazz
That's the loco chassis under way. Quite a bit different to the 6 coupled ones as one set of drivers are in the way .You will see what I mean in due course. I'm pleased the the chassis ran very smooth with no problems.
doilum
Excellent. Almost tempting me to dig out the Q6! 1
jazz
That's the chassis almost done, there is still a number of things to attach as yet. Now turning to the body. Hope it's going to be no more difficult as the tender was. 10
jazz
Kicking of today with yesterdays efforts on the bodywork. I had to modify the cylinders snifter valves, they were sitting too high causing them to prevent the footplate to sit down on the chassis. 7
jazz
Body work has now the worse done with. It's all done mainly to the detailing now. 9
jazz
It's almost done now. The cab is the most work now. Then remaining pipe work and boiler parts before the big cleanup and priming. 11

daifly
Ken I hope that it's just your photos but the boiler looks all wrong to my ageing eyes. The bottom of the boiler should be parallel with the footplate and level with the top of the splashers. The boiler is coned from the back of the smokebox to the front of the firebox. Dave The bottom of the boiler is parallel with the footplate and level with the splasher tops. Being cone shaped and the camera angle makes look slightly off.
jazz
That's the David Andrews Churchward 47xx finished and ready for delivery. Been a bit on the tricky side of some areas to build need a fair few of photos to sort it out. Got there in the end. 6 5
