Iron Horse
An update at last................Well it's been an eventfull 3 months.........I drove a class 50 on a driver experience day on the SVR for my 50th birthday present, I've been on holiday with my amazing daughter and fiancee and I've had to change jobs...............as you can imagine not too much has been done. However I have tried to progress the lane at the back of the layout next to the wall I installed back in the summer. It's been a bit up and down as I've tried to develop it but hopefully it is going in the right direction. Comments and suggestions welcome especially how to make brambles.......I've got some bushes I think I need a few brambles...... This layout is never going to win awards but as I've said before, so many times I had a baseboard and track but never got near ballast or green stuff so I feel this is a step in the right direction. I feel my stumbling point is a mental thing, something is better than nothing so I'll always try and improve what I already have..........perhaps sometimes I need to bite the bullet and rip up and start again............not necessarily with the path being shown here......I just feel I need to be brave at times and not just be safe...... Anyway, it's nice to be back and thanks for looking Edited October 27, 2022 by Iron Horse Replacing Images
Jaggzuk
Nice to have you back. Life always throws curves balls and sometime we need a break, but the lane looks great. I really like the diagonal car parking bays in the grass and the rail made crash barrier. I was having a look back at your photos and noted your rather good looking cable troughs, are these bought versions or home made?
RMweb Gold Revolution Mike B Posted October 20, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 20, 2017 Nice one Adrian and congratulations on the new job. I may not be up to the skill level of Allan Downes but if you need any help with the brambles, please shout
Iron Horse
Well guys, not too much has been happening here has it? Work has been stressful since August but I'm sure we can all say that. There has been a little extra progress on the lane at the rear of the layout but tonight I though I'd wish you all a..... Merry Christmas...... I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, firstly I've been renumbering a 50 back to when I had it with my Dad for haulage between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton back in 1986 (sure you can spot the hairline split in the moulding....shame I noticed after the numbers were off!!!!!!) and yes the jumper cable was twisted and no Phil, I haven't put the cantrail stripe right!!!!!!! And then thanks to Bachmann for producing the last 47 I needed for sight. Phil Mc was with me on our first all line rover together back in 1988. This was on our last day when we went back to Crewe to meet his Mum and Dad and I was able to stop writing 47 numbers down......lol. Did a bit of weathering earlier in the week... well in my sort of fashion anyway Merry Christmas everyone and thanks for taking an interest in my humble layout over the last 12 months Edited October 27, 2022 by Iron Horse Replacing Images

rob D2
Looking good, It’s amazing how many layouts have the” hello boys “ poster.... It’s the booby enthusiasts equivalent of a bus on a bridge I think...

Iron Horse
Nice to have you back. Life always throws curves balls and sometime we need a break, but the lane looks great. I really like the diagonal car parking bays in the grass and the rail made crash barrier. I was having a look back at your photos and noted your rather good looking cable troughs, are these bought versions or home made? How awful I am for not replying with an answer, apologies. They were the Wills cable troughs but I cut them all up and laid them individually just to get a little randomness into it. I then quickly dry brushed them prior to ballasting. Iron Horse
Happy New Year to you all Again not too much has been happening really although now is probably a good time to point out my massive layout compromise which I think I have eluded to earlier anyway. I trying to base it all in the 70's/80's and my buildings/scenery I hope will generally reflect that, BUT I like modern too so Rule #1 we've gone all modern for the New Year......... Have done a little planning and cutting and shutting though...... Thanks for popping by

big T
Your layout is coming along nicely Adrian! The red cliffs are superb. The weathering on the Petroleum spoonage is really nice and subtle. Keep up the good work Trev

Iron Horse
I'm still here but I really have no idea where time goes these days So I've been doing a mix of things recently although it doesn't feel like I have done much at all. Thank you Mick for your advice with the 08 I recently acquired, pics will come later when I actually start the thing!!!!!! I'll do an update later as well with regards to the layout but I have had fun weathering a small rake of Falcons...... Thanks for popping by........

Iron Horse
So as you have all probably guessed not too much has happened here for a good while, the summer has been too nice and the evenings have been just perfect for an beer, sat in the garden watching the sun go down..........I've done a couple of trips to try and get my last few 91's for haulage....not got there yet but have gained 3 DB 90's whilst doing it But going back to the layout, there is some progress. Mainly around the small countryside section I started right at the beginning of the year. So firstly I added some structure Then got some plastercloth out And I still have plenty of B&Q South Devon Earth emulsion Tried out some ideas to include a camping field And got a base covering done Then a hedge was added with a basic static grass for the camping field Then I added a road with some roadworks And some wilder grass around the edge of the camping field A general overview with the layout edging extension all painted black Drains added and a rough roadworks layout.....going to need traffic lights!!!!! Static grass added, different colours and lengths for the field of sheep and the embankment, once the fence is in I can differentiate with more detail Wire fence in position So quite a bit done but loads more to add, thanks for taking a look and I'll try not to leave it too long before I post again
