RMweb Premium Dava Posted November 9, 2016 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 9, 2016 The film captures the modernism of the newly electrified railway in the 1966-70 period well, it was an exciting railway. Dava

eastwestdivide
85015 at Bescot 15/2/84 Are the wagons Freightliner flats with open containers (if you can have such a thing)? And are the containers the full length (60') of the wagon, or multiples, but only some with ends? Or something else?

I was going to say no as you couldn't find a long enough trailer to road it, but then I found this http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brferryfreightliner/h365ee9d2#h365ee9d2 so yes it is.... E3109
What a fantastic thread. I work for Freightliner, and lucky enough to get on class 86s regularly. Of course I take photos when possible, so I hope these are of interest. Incidentally and it was mentioned further up the thread, AL6s were built in Rail (Monastral) Blue rather than Electric Blue. Very few of them received red buffer beams and going off my own research, the only ones that did were the same locos that were built without a yellow warning panel. The yellow panels were applied to these within a matter of months if not weeks. The locos with red bufferbeams were the first handful outshopped from Vulcan Foundry/Donny Works, i.e. E310x and E316x. Perhaps half a dozen from each batch. There was a proposal to repaint one of our locos into their original livery, but sadly this did not take place. However as part of this proposal I took paint samples from all of our locos, which would confirm the above. Enjoy the photos. I update this gallery fairly regularly. They were delivered to Bound's Green under their own power via the Trent Valley, up the WCML and over to the NLL as you say so it is likely that your photo depicts this move. A quick question for you (as you work for freightliner), are the 86's set to continue their stay at freightliner for the long term future? It would be sad to see them go.
