A class 87 looks on disinterestedly. Sunday 7/6/1981 I think Crewe was a clutter from steam days, the wires did add to it, but all the engine changes that took place there led to the proliferation of points and short sidings. Looking back now you can see why they had to remodel it as most of the pointwork was not only due for renewal it had also lost it's purpose. The nearest of the two middle lines in the photo was a siding then and both are now the fast route for non-stop services. 1

Peter Kazmierczak
Four for the price of one. The afternoon Trafford Park-bound Freightliner passes Kings Langley last Tuesday. Often a pair of 90s are added dead-in-tow to return them north.

CWJ
I was minding my own business at Manchester Piccadilly this afternoon when this pair caught me off-guard. They were running light through Platform 13, so probably going home after delivering an intermodal train to Trafford Park. Cheers, Will

RMweb Premium keefer Posted December 15, 2023 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 15, 2023 (edited) Looks like a pre-nat Test Car, I think there were a couple of ex-GWR/LMS coaches used. EDIT: might be Test Car 3, ex-LMS Dynamometer Car No.3 M45049 http://www.traintesting.com/test_car_3.htm Notice there is a window in the coach end. Slightly different ABB to the other AL- locos, I believe. Edited December 17, 2023 by Evertrainz 3 2
