RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted December 1, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 1, 2015 My suggestion over the weekend that, as Phil is now developing the layout with such an extensive addition, and he might as well rebuild it all in EM didn't seem to go down too well. Shame. Mike.

RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted January 25, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2016 A Youtube landmark yesterday - total views reached 400,000! Link on signature below. There are a couple of aircraft videos in there too.... Its interesting to look at the way things split The "When Model Railways Go Wrong" clip still accounts for over 75% of the views - and mostly from the other side of the Atlantic The other 25% mainly consists of our attempts at representing prototypical UK operations and largely comes from this side of the pond. Many folks on here have posted kind comments - many thanks for your support folks, more to come this year... Cheers Phil
RMweb Gold Enterprisingwestern Posted January 25, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2016 Just shows the Americans think you're doing it wrong doing it right, what do they know? Looking forward to the next clips, (of you doing it hydraulically, which is never wrong). Mike.

RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted January 25, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted January 25, 2016 Ah yes the extension Spent £1600 on the car in the last 3 months hence progress financially stymied....Front brake pads and discs - service - MOT - gearbox linkage cables - clutch - clutch fork - starter motor....Its nearly a new car! Next month hopefully... Although Norton Junction bridge is built, Stubby of this parish is doing the signal box for us, and the C&W dept has expanded the roster to seven rakes of coaches so sufficient there to populate phase 2, 3 warships done and another 4 currently in works so chipping away at the work.... RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted April 12, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 12, 2016 Don't forget an original livery one went up Lickey on a Footex in 1964. Not sure if it came via Gloucester or Hereford though.
RMweb Gold Downendian Posted April 13, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 13, 2016 One of my most ancient of railway memories is seeing the reverse blue-grey Pullman, before I started spotting. First whilst playing cricket on Winterbourne down, overlooking the line East of Bristol parkway, then secondly whilst picking up a friends dad at Bristol Parkway in what must of been 1972. Enough for me to have bought the Bachmann model, but haven't got round to the decision to repaint as the Nanking blue livery looks so pretty. RMweb Gold Phil Bullock Posted April 13, 2016 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted April 13, 2016 Have to agree with that Neil - its a cracking livery And by 1973 the sets were running as hybrids http://www.railcar.co.uk/type/blue-pullman/rundown-withdrawal I remember them at both Bristol and Cardiff, very special Phil

br2975
As is known, the South Wales Pullman service linked Swansea and Paddington and vice versa..There was a path for the set that worked the late down service on a Friday to run from Swansea to Canton for servicing, and back again on a Sunday..This ran as:-.5F99 22:50 FO 'Q' Swansea - Cardiff Canton arr. 23:55and5F92 20:25 SO 'Q' Cardiff Canton - Swansea arr. 21:25and would probably account for the odd combination ofCl.08 3421 and W60093 at Cardiff General on Saturday 8th. July, 1972..It was not uncommon to see the Canton carriage shed pilot towing a Pullman power car, or even a half set from Canton to Cardiff General, then to Grangetown and then around the rear of Ninian Park to Penarth Curve North and back onto the depot - using two sides of the Penarth Curve triangle to turn a power car, or half set during weekend maintenance. . The attachment (care of my trusty Kodak Instamatic) shows an 'up' working at Cardiff General alongside 6927 in the last week of Pullman services in 1973. I hope my ramblings have kept someone entertained ? . Brian R Edited April 13, 2016 by br2975

Over the years the Pullman sets worked any number of excursions e.g. Grand National charters . Another was in connection with Swansea Town's FA Cup semi-final at Villa Park . And on one occasion a set was charterd for a wedding bash. I hope my ramblings have kept someone entertained ? .
